Rangers Interested in Signing Manchester United Defender James Overy
Rangers are showing an interest in signing a Manchester United defender in the summer transfer window.
The Glasgow club are preparing for life under new manager Derek McInnes heading into the new season.
Rangers have already been incredibly busy in the summer window so far, bringing in six new additions for McInnes.
Ivor Pandur, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, Lawrence Shankland, Cammy Devlin and Ben Godfrey have all arrived through the door at Ibrox.
Their summer business won’t be stopping there, especially after such a disappointing 25/26 season, which saw them throw away their chances of the Scottish Premiership title in the final weeks.
Rangers have clearly been targeting experienced players in the market, with their youngest being Neil at the age of 24.
Rangers eyeing young star
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Rangers are showing an interest in signing Manchester United ‘rising star’ James Overy in the summer transfer window.
Signing a right-back is likely to be one of Rangers’ priorities this summer after losing James Tavernier following the expiration of his contract.
The Glasgow side also lost Max Aarons, who spent the 25-26 season on loan from Premier League side Bournemouth.
Rangers have already brought McCrorie to the side from Bristol City, but after losing two right-back options, it appears they are in the market for another.
Former Everton defender Godfrey is an option to play at right back, having been deployed there during his time with the Toffees on occasion.

Who is James Overy?
Overy, who insiders at Old Trafford are ‘raving’ about, made the move to Manchester United from Perth Glory back in 2024.
He is a right back who is capable of pushing into the final third, and he’s eligible to play for both Australia and Scotland.
The now 18-year-old completed the move in September 2024 when he was aged just 16.
Overy later signed his first professional contract with the club last summer, showing how highly rated he is at Old Trafford.
You’d imagine a move to Ibrox would likely only be on loan, considering he’s a highly rated prospect at United.
The youngster is yet to make his senior debut for the Red Devils, but he has been involved with United’s academy sides.

Arsenal Must Make ‘Huge Offer’ to Sign Victor Froholdt
Arsenal are going to have to dig deep into their pockets to secure a midfield deal they are said to be eyeing this summer. The Gunners are on a mission to upgrade their squad even further this summer, hoping to become more dominant in the Premier League while going one step further in their bid to win their first-ever Champions League title.
For the most part, Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta want clear upgrades, and that is especially the case when it comes to their two priorities, which are the left wing and number 8 positions. But Arsenal are also aware they need to replace potential exitees, and they have already signed Christos Tzolis to replace Leandro Trossard, who joined Besiktas in a search for regular starts.
The Gunners are also keeping an eye out for young talent, but they are going to have to dig very deep to sign one particular target.
Arsenal told they will have to pay big to sign Victor Froholdt
Arsenal are said to be interested in Porto’s young star midfielder Victor Froholdt, whose value has skyrocketed. Porto spent around £17million to sign the 20-year-old last year, but his value has already risen from £10.2million at the point of the transfer to £42.6million, according to Transfermarkt.
The young midfielder played 34 times in the league alone for Porto last season, scoring six and assisting as many. He is already a 12-time Denmark international, and he is likely to remain a big part of his national team’s plans going forward.
According to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal are interested in a deal this summer, but they are going to have to pay big money.
He said: “Victor Froholdt is a really good player and AC Milan were actually interested in him in the past. I know Porto really want to keep him, so it will take a huge offer from Arsenal or Manchester United if the situation is to change. Their coach is really happy to have him in the squad and wants to keep him for at least one more season.”
The possible asking price has not been clearly reported, but it’s likely the fee will be above £50million, given the player’s value. It’s also worth keeping in mind that Copenhagen, Froholdt’s former club, have a 10% sell-on clause.
Froholdt is a ‘stunning’ player with ‘bags of energy’
Froholdt has been praised aplenty over the last year, and the most analytic view came from ESPN‘s Tor-Kristian Karlsen, who said: “Froholdt’s maturity is stunning for his age. He offers physicality in duels, bags of energy, a smooth first touch, clear tactical understanding and creativity on the ball. Indeed, with his engine, versatility and drive, Froholdt is a fair bet to become one of Europe’s next top line box-to-box midfielders.”
Arsenal are unlikely to see Froholdt as a ready-made starter, but he does look to be a player who can make an impact at Premier League level, and it’s likely he is seen as a player who can play a supplementary role in the Gunners midfield with the view of going on to become a star in the coming years.

Brighton Set to Hijack £60m Tottenham Deal to Sign Lucas Bergvall
Brighton and Hove Albion are ready to table a record-breaking offer to sign Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall ahead of Nottingham Forest and Newcastle, according to TEAMtalk.
Spurs have improved their midfield this summer with a £185m splurge to bring in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, breaking their club record twice in the process. But those moves saw Bergvall ask to leave the club, with major interest from several Premier League clubs.
But now a new club has entered the race for his signature, and it’s reported that they are ready to blow everyone out of the water to get a deal done.
Brighton Ready £60m Move for Bergvall
Bergvall, who has been described as ‘incredible’, is one of the top young midfielders in the Premier League, and he is keen to play regularly to continue his development.
Spurs have already rejected a bid from Nottingham Forest worth £38m, while Newcastle also made a move but saw their £46m offer knocked back too, as they put a £60m valuation on the Sweden international.
But it has now emerged that Brighton are ready to enter the race and table a record-breaking bid that matches that valuation in order to get the 19-year-old in at the AMEX Stadium, as they look to strengthen their own midfield options for the new season.
It’s understood that Brighton’s recruitment team have identified Bergvall as a priority target, and they believe that they can help him develop into one of the next big stars of the Premier League, which fits perfectly into their model of transfers.
Tottenham are reluctant to lose Bergvall, however, his desire to leave and the money on offer is likely to prove too difficult to turn down. Brighton are ready to test their resolve with a mega bid, which would hijack the interest of Forest and Newcastle, who have so far been reluctant to match Spurs’ valuation.

Tottenham Losing a Top Talent
Bergvall is an exceptional young midfielder, and if you told Spurs fans a few months ago that he’d be on the move this summer they likely would have been devastated.
But after seeing Fernandes and Tonali arrive, plus De Zerbi offloading a host of young talent such as Luka Vuskovic, Tynan Thompson, and Will Lankshear, then it probably isn’t much of a surprise to see the ambitious talent looking to move on.
A £60m fee will soften the blow, and will undoubtedly help Spurs to strengthen the squad further in this market, but it won’t change the fact that Tottenham will be losing a top talent for the future, and strengthening a Premier League rival who are keen to take their place in the table.

Luis de la Fuente Slams Behaviour of Argentina Players
As the dust continues to settle on the 2026 World Cup, some key topics continue to be discussed. One of those is the way the Argentina players behaved after their loss in the final against Spain.
Luis de la Fuente’s side were able to win the tournament thanks to a single goal in extra-time from Ferran Torres. The match wasn’t packed full of chances or high-quality football, as the Argentine players relied upon the dark arts as they looked to stifle their opponents.
This led to a red card for Enzo Fernandez, while some of his teammates completely lost their heads after the full-time whistle. Most notably, Leandro Paredes went after multiple Spanish players and had to be pulled away from Gavi after he tossed the World Cup winner to the floor. Spain boss De la Fuente has now spoken out on the matter.
De la Fuente Offers Verdict on Argentina Antics
As quoted by Sky Sport, De la Fuente has spoken on Spanish television about how he interpreted the events. He remarked that he didn’t initially see what happened, before condemning the actions of the Argentine stars:
“At the time, I didn’t realise it. I was celebrating, hugging team-mates. But in any case, it is intolerable, unacceptable, it cannot be allowed. Players of that stature, whom I praised in the days leading up to the match and continue to praise, who are great players with a tremendous coach, surely they must have felt just as bad as we did seeing those reactions.”
The 65-year-old did, however, praise his players for the way they carried themselves in the face of such provocation, adding: “I want to highlight our behaviour in the face of that kind of aggression and provocation. Our players always kept their composure and behaved like true professionals.”
FIFA Will Investigate Argentina World Cup Actions
Beyond Paredes’ head loss, Nahuel Molina attempted to knock over Spain captain Rodri as he celebrated winning the World Cup at full-time. On top of that, Roberto Ayala also attempted to punch Dani Olmo in the face, for which he has apologised.
A FIFA statement has confirmed that the actions will be looked into: “The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has appointed a Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutor to investigate potential breaches of the FDC with regard to the post-match incidents. Further details will be communicated by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee once the prosecutor’s report has been completed.”
Argentina’s players did not help endear themselves to many when they appeared to turn their backs on the Spain celebrations as their opponents lifted the World Cup. The many antics have sparked widespread criticism. For example, as well as De la Fuente, Spain’s Dani Olmo has also commented on the behaviour of the South American side, telling the press: “We are an example for many generations, I think they should be too.”
