‘Cheap product’ – Babachir Lawal mocks Atiku’s presidential bid
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, has described the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar as a ‘cheap product’.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, titled ‘Kachalla Series Three’, Lawal also blasted the African Democratic Congress, ADC’s handling of its Adamawa State governorship primary.
According to him, the ADC replaced Umar Suleiman, whom he said won the party’s Adamawa governorship primary, with Tukur Moddibo.
The ex-SGF alleged that the substitution was due to ethnic considerations, claiming that Atiku influenced the decision.
He compared Atiku and the ADC’s candidate-selection process to products purchased from an online marketplace.
“As the story goes on the streets in the state, APC donated its gubernatorial candidate to the state having purchased him from TEMU the cheap online market place, and it appears that the ADC too has just done likewise, aside giving to the nation a presidential candidate that looks more like he too was a cheap product from TEMU,” he wrote.
According to him, the substitution of Suleiman with Moddibo was influenced by pressure from Atiku.
He accused the former vice president of favouring candidates on ethnic and religious grounds.

Osun Election: Accord demands Sen Fadahunsi’s immediate arrest, prosecution
Accord has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of Osun East senator, Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, over a viral campaign video where the lawmaker was captured telling members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to kill its members.
The party said the senator’s action has confirmed that its members and supporters across the state are targets of political violence, harassment and intimidation by thugs associated with the All Progressives Congress, APC, in collusion with the police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Becoming Peter Obi’s running mate won’t help your 2031 ambition – APC chieftain to Kwankwaso
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Goriola Yakub, has said the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso’s decision to pitch his tent with Peter Obi won’t help his ambition in 2031.
Yakub suggested that becoming Obi’s running mate could turn out to be Kwankwaso’s worst political decision.
In an interview with Trust TV, the APC chieftain said: “Incidentally in 2022, Kwankwaso was explaining why himself as a Northerner can’t be a running mate to Peter Obi. He gave himself an objective either to be a vice presidential candidate or a presidential candidate and with the mood he now felt that the only available is to become a vice presidential candidate.
“But I want to tell you something that it could turn out to be Kwankwaso’s worst political move if he thinks that this would help his 2031.”
Yakub insisted that the former Anambra State governor has no pathway in Northern Nigeria.
He added: “Kwankwaso knows Peter Obi and there is no pathway for Obi in the North. Let me give you an example, if Kwankwaso was the top of a ticket and he could not deliver the North to himself, how would he deliver the North to Peter Obi?”
Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Democratic Party, NNPP, defected to the NDC a few months ago, after which he emerged as the party’s presidential running mate.

Osun Election: Lawmaker gives Fadahunsi 30 days to resign over anti-Accord comments
An Osun State House of Assembly member, Kanmi Ajibola, has given Senator Francis Fadahunsi 30 days to resign from the National Assembly over alleged inciting comments concerning members of the Accord in the state.
Ajibola, who represents Oriade State Constituency in the Assembly, also threatened legal action against Fadahunsi if the senator failed to comply with the demand.
Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, had earlier denied allegations that he directed his supporters to kill members of the Accord, insisting that he was quoted out of context.
However, in the letter signed by his solicitor, Ekene Amadi, and titled, ‘Resign now, you have a killer’s mind and lacking strength of character for public office representation’, Ajibola accused the senator of making threats against opposition members.
The letter, which was copied to President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, alleged that Fadahunsi had threatened to deal with members of the opposition since October 2025.
Ajibola said he and Fadahunsi were from the same constituency and previously belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party before their political paths diverged.
According to him, “Fadahunsi defected to the All Progressives Congress, while he moved to the Accord. I and other PDP members had contributed financially, electorally and otherwise to Fadahunsi’s victories in the 2019 and 2023 elections.”
The letter alleged that “Fadahunsi had, since October 2025, threatened that Accord members would face arrest and alleged killings after the 2026 Osun governorship election.”
It claimed that between June 1 and August 10, several Accord members had been arrested or detained, while some were allegedly killed.
Ajibola also alleged that on August 11, four days before the Osun governorship election, Fadahunsi directed political supporters to attack Accord members during political activities in Ilesa.
The lawmaker described the alleged conduct “as a violation of the senator’s oath of office. Fadahunsi is no longer fit to continue representing Osun East in the Senate.”
The letter demanded that Fadahunsi resign within 30 days of receiving it and withdraw from future public service.
It warned that failure to comply would result in legal proceedings, stating that he would face “the full rigour of law and a legal action shall be taken against you”.
