Man Utd Make Contact to Sign Joaquin Seys Ahead of Arsenal

Published

on

Manchester United have made contact with Club Brugge over a deal to sign Joaquin Seys ahead of Arsenal, according to reports.

The Red Devils have prioritised a midfield rebuild this summer with the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while Karl Darlow and Tynan Thompson have also joined Michael Carrick’s squad for the new season. But with less than a month remaining before the deadline, there is still business they want to get done.

Alongside another midfielder, United are understood to be keen on a deal for another forward and a new left-back. Newcastle star Lewis Hall is the top target, but the Magpies have ruled out a sale this summer, and INEOS are now lining up a move for an alternative option.

According to The Sun, Man Utd have made a formal enquiry to Club Brugge over a deal to sign the highly-rated left-back.

Seys impressed for Club Brugge in the Champions League last season and earned himself a place in the Belgium squad at the World Cup, featuring in the quarter-final clash which saw them eliminated by eventual winners Spain.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a target at Old Trafford as a result of extensive scouting, but Brugge are not in a rush to sell and are understood to have placed a value of around €35m (£30m) on any potential deal.

Seys has also emerged as a target for Arsenal, who have also made an enquiry to the Belgian side. Man Utd are not expected to be put off by the asking price as they seek a long-term solution to their left-back position, with Luke Shaw now into the final year of his contract with the club.

But there is no confirmation on whether they will press ahead for a deal in this window, or instead prioritise their funds for other positions. Meanwhile, Arsenal scouts are understood to have provided manager Mikel Arteta with a detailed report on the defender, believing he would suit their system.

Described as a ‘top, top talent’, Seys has already made 97 appearances for Brugge, but talks surrounding his immediate future could accelerate in the coming weeks. He is currently contracted to his boyhood side until 2029.

Leko: Seys Can Reach the Top Level

Old Trafford

Seys may still be young, but he has impressed enough to catch the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

At the World Cup he had a largely backup role, but he featured for 30 minutes against Spain in the quarter-final, going directly against Lamine Yamal, and his club manager Ivan Leko insists that he is going to reach the very highest level in his career.

“He may have only played thirty minutes at that World Cup, in the quarter-final against Spain, but what a half-hour it was!” he said.

“Joa did a fantastic job against Lamine Yamal, one of the best players in the world.”

“I see Seys reaching the absolute top of the Premier League: in my opinion, he has no ceiling. He has the talent, the character, and above all: the right mentality. He is often the first to arrive here and the last to leave.”

Turkish Journalist Arrested For False Jamal Musiala to Galatasaray Claim

Published

In one of the strangest news stories of the summer, a Turkish sports journalist has reportedly been arrested for his claims involving Jamal Musiala.

The summer transfer window is often referred to as the silly season for the many wild rumours that appear, linking players to clubs in unlikely moves that never happen. Although every now and then, an unexpected deal is completed with eye-watering amounts of money involved.

One interesting rumour, for example, has seen Bayern Munich star Musiala linked with Turkish club Galatasaray. However, claims made around that potential transfer have sparked some very real legal issues for one journalist.

Jamal Musiala Transfer Rumours Lead to Arrest

Jamal Musiala

According to reports in Turkey, journalist Burhan Can Terzi has been detained after claiming that German midfielder Musiala would move this summer in a transfer from Bayern to Galatasaray. His arrest was made on alleged charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information.”

Terzi, who covers football as a reporter in İstanbul, is said to have been detained in an investigation launched by İstanbul’s Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. His legal issues came after Galatasaray denied the truth of his claims.

Despite the Turkish club rubbishing the report, Terzi refused to back down and reportedly responded: “I’m putting my life on the line [for this story].” It’s said that Galatasaray have not lodged any official complaint, but fans accused him of misleading the public, with the journalist continuing to make false statements.

After those complaints from football supporters, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation. Eye-opening footage has now emerged online, as it appears to show Terzi being led away by local police enforcement.

Turkish Journalist Arrested as Galatasaray Statement Denies Transfer Claim

Terzi is said to have made the initial report on 26 July. Galatasaray then moved to deny the report five days later. Without directly naming any journalist, they completely dismissed any claims relating to a transfer between Musiala and Galatasaray as “an attempt to create a perception aimed at discrediting our club’s transfer operations.”

A statement from the Turkish giants read:

“Due to the deliberate circulation of false and misleading reports about our club in recent days, we find it necessary to issue the following statement to inform the public that the ‘Jamal Musiala is set to transfer to Galatasaray’ reports are completely unfounded.

“It is also noteworthy that the individuals and platforms responsible for these speculations were behind similar false claims during the previous season.”

The case marks the first time the disinformation law has been applied to sports reporting.

What CM Punk and Kevin Owens Said to Each Other During SmackDown Segment

Published

on

By

A brief off-mic exchange between CM Punk and Kevin Owens on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown has added another layer of intensity to what is likely to become one of WWE’s most compelling rivalries.

Now, a video posted on X is doing the rounds showing exactly what was said between the two Superstars in the middle of the ring when they weren’t talking directly down the microphone to those in attendance and those watching on TV around the world.

The video captures the two wrestlers engaged in a heated conversation, with the tension between them appearing unmistakably personal. What makes the clip particularly intriguing, however, is that the exchange takes place away from the polished presentation of a traditional wrestling promo, giving fans a glimpse of the animosity that exists beneath the scripted spectacle.

Kevin Owens Returns to Set Up CM Punk Feud

The timing could hardly be more significant. Kevin Owens recently returned to WWE after a lengthy absence and immediately established himself as the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship. His victory at SummerSlam set up a championship match against CM Punk, who had recently returned himself and reclaimed the WWE Championship.

Their confrontation on SmackDown made clear that this will not be an ordinary title feud. Owens questioned Punk’s character and suggested that the champion had not genuinely changed. Punk, in turn, reminded Owens of his own accomplishments and argued that wrestlers such as him had benefitted from the path he helped create. The exchange eventually became physical before WWE personnel intervened.

The off-mic footage, therefore, carries additional weight. Fans are accustomed to wrestlers trading insults during televised promos, but moments that appear less rehearsed can make a rivalry feel considerably more authentic.

Punk and Owens have also acknowledged over the years that they are not particularly close. Owens previously described the pair as not being friends and said they were simply not each other’s type of people.

That history gives their current storyline an unusual foundation. Rather than manufacturing hostility from scratch, WWE can draw upon years of tension and mutual distrust. The result is a feud that feels less like a conventional good-versus-evil story and more like two strong personalities finally being placed on a collision course.

The viral video may be short, but it reinforces an important point: CM Punk versus Kevin Owens has the potential to become one of WWE’s most genuinely heated rivalries. With the WWE Championship at stake, personal history in the background, and both men seemingly unwilling to back down, their eventual showdown promises to be far more than a title match.

Red Bull ‘Give Up’ on 2026 Season Already After Just 11 Races

Published

Despite just 11 races of the 2026 season being completed, one constructor is already writing off their chances.

After 11 rounds, Red Bull have reportedly internally accepted defeat with their 2026 car. They are yet to win a race this year and currently sit fourth in the standings and over 200 points behind Mercedes in first. They have secured just four podiums, all of which have been achieved by Max Verstappen.

This is their debut season with their in-house power unit and, as a result, Laurent Mekies reigned in ambitions and downplayed their chances coming into the season. However, it has not been the engine that has given Red Bull headaches, but the chassis.

According to F1 Insider, there is an acquiescence within RB22 that the car is a ‘flop‘ despite the fact that the season is not yet halfway done.

The Milton Keyes outfit have introduced more upgrades than any other constructor this year, but the hopes that the upgrades might be a magic bullet for their problems appear to now be dashed. Verstappen, despite three podiums in the four races leading up to the summer break, is still steadfast in his criticisms and frustrations of the car. At the Hungarian Grand Prix just before the break, both him and Isack Hadjar labeled the car ‘undriveable.’

Red Bull’s technical department, led by Pierre Wache, planned ‘numerous development stages’ in an effort to make the car more ‘driveable’, but to no avail.

Red Bull optimists can take some comfort from recent history, however. They currently sit just 15 points worse off than at this stage last year, when aggressive upgrades allowed Verstappen to chase down the two McLaren drivers who sat top of the table.

The Dutchman at one point trailed the lead by 104 points before a remarkable resurgence ended with him finishing the season just two points behind world champion Lando Norris. Verstappen is now 110 points off Kimi Antonelli, yet it is very hard to imagine a similar scenario to last season panning out.

Red Bull hope to have acces to ADUO (Additional Developmental and Upgrade Opportunities), a mechanism that allows manufacturers lagging behind the benchmark ICE to catch up. They were previously regarded as the benchmark, but that title is likely to belong to Mercedes when the FIA publishes the ranking.

Given the internal air of resignation towards the current car, there is an argument that funds and dedication should be poured into next year’s car rather than waste more resources on the white elephant that is the RB22.

The regulations are largely remaining consistent, unlike last year when they underwent an overhaul. However, there will still be impactful changes, so gains can be made by prioritsing resources for the 2027 car.

Verstappen, of course, can activate his exit clause in October, so Red Bull have reasons to focus upgrades on the current car to keep the four-time world champion happy in the short term, but with many rival seats opening up in 2028, next year’s car may also be salient in whether Verstappen stays at Red Bull.
