Former Kano State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the recent electoral victory in Osun State as a reflection of the power of citizens’ commitment to democracy.

Kwankwaso stated this on his official Facebook page while reacting to Senator Ademola Adeleke’s victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Gombe, has explained why the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr Francis Ajala, could not defeat the incumbent, Ademola Adeleke, who emerged winner of Saturday’s election.

Gombe, speaking to journalists on Monday, said Osun voters thought Ajala would not participate in the poll.

INEC rejects claims of ghost, hired voters in Osun election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rejected claims that ghost and hired voters took part in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

The commission said the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) made such voting impossible.

Fifteen political parties participated in the 2026 Bauchi State local government elections, according to the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).

The Bauchi chapter of IPAC made this known while responding to reports that some political parties had boycotted the election.
