Southampton legend Matthew Le Tissier has told Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner to wait for a better job following reports that he wants to replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
GIVEMESPORT Senior Correspondent Ben Jacobs revealed this week that the Eagles boss would take the Old Trafford hot-seat ‘in a heartbeat’ if it was offered to him.
Glasner Would Join Man United With ‘Rotten’ Culture
The pressure is undoubtedly increasing on Amorim following an underwhelming start to the season which has seen United lose four of their seven matches in all competitions – including a Carabao Cup exit to League Two Grimsby Town.
The Portuguese now faces a crucial clash against in-form Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday, knowing a positive result is needed to lift some of the scrutiny on his shoulders.
Meanwhile, Glasner is thriving at Selhurst Park and followed up two trophy successes in 2025 with a 2-0 victory against Dynamo Kyiv in their Europa League Conference opener on Thursday night.
It extended the Eagles’ unbeaten run to 19 matches in all competitions, but doubts remain over the Austrian’s future, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Asked if he thought Glasner could finally be the man to turn United’s fortunes around, Le Tissier exclusively told GIVEMESPORT:
It’s difficult. You’ve had such huge names that have gone into Man United and still haven’t managed to turn that ship around.
I think it tells you something about the culture and the attitude of the players that there are so many world-class managers who have gone and haven’t been able to get things right.
Obviously, he’s a rich rate of Vader font at the moment with Palace 19 unbeaten, and it’s pretty impressive. But if he goes to a club where the culture is rotten, you know, how’s he going to turn that round?
Glasner Should ‘Wait for Better Job’ Than Man United
While an exit from Palace could be on the cards within the next 12 months, it will be interesting to see if Glasner has better potential options than United to consider.
Le Tissier certainly thinks he should wait, considering the Old Trafford job a bit of a curse, given the likes of Jose Mourinho have failed at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.
The Saints icon added:
Now, can he do anything different than what Jose Mourinho can do?
It’s tough. I mean, if I was in Glasner’s shoes, I think I’d probably wait for a better job!
Amorim is now approaching 12 months in the role and after spending more than £200m on his frontline in the summer transfer window, better performances and results are needed on the pitch.
