How Ex-Man Utd Ace Anthony Martial is Doing at Monterrey as Career Hits New Low

Published

on

Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has hit a new career low after joining Mexican side Monterrey over the summer. The Frenchman was hailed as the next big thing when he arrived in the Premier League in 2015 for £36 million from Monaco, but early sparks were never enough to help the Red Devils return to their glory days.

Just weeks into life as the Red Devils’ new number nine under Louis van Gaal, Martial had his own chant after scoring a late winner on his debut against Liverpool – all set to the backdrop of Martin Tyler’s most expressive commentary line: “Welcome to Manchester United, Anthony Martial!”

In 317 appearances, he scored 90 goals and produced 54 assists. However, a string of injuries and a prolonged dry spell in front of goal, coupled with his inability to ever find consistency, led to his release when his contract expired two summers ago. After a topsy-turvy season with 13-time Greek champions AEK Athens, where he was earning a club record salary, Martial has now left Europe entirely, embarking on a new chapter in the Land of the Sun with Monterrey.

How Anthony Martial is Performing for Monterrey

Devoid of confidence, Martial has struggled to adapt to football in the Mexican top flight, failing to register a goal or assist in his first five games for the club captained by Sergio Ramos.

The ex-Monaco wonderkid also missed a glorious chance in his most recent appearance against Tijuana, drawing a flood of criticism from local media. One reporter wrote in Foot Mercato (watch his highlights below):

“The Frenchman is struggling to find the net and has not scored a goal for eight months. He has fallen far short of expectations raised by his transfer.”

The journalist added: “In his last game, Martial missed a clear goal-scoring opportunity that cost Monterrey the victory against Xolos. He narrowly missed his first goal in Mexico, missed a header from a few metres from the goal-line while the Tijuani goalkeeper was practically beaten. An unacceptable error for a player of the quality of this 29-year-old.”

Slamming Martial’s missed chance, another outlet, Record, also chimed in: “Martial’s mistake was so clear and so serious that the Frenchman himself seemed baffled.

“The Monterrey no 9 squatted for several seconds after the shot, regained his posture, put his hands and shirt over his face in embarrassment and had no choice but to thank and apologise to his teammates.”

While the likes of Antony, Rasmus Højlund, and Scott McTominay – who won the Serie A Player of the Season award during his maiden voyage – have all gone on to enjoy their careers away from the pressures of Old Trafford, Martial seems trapped in a never-ending cycle of new surroundings and almost immediate disappointment.

Perhaps he would have fared better had he followed the initial plan of joining another Liga MX side, Welsh icon Aaron Ramsey’s Pumas. All the paperwork for the deal had reportedly been completed, only for him and his camp to pull the plug and join Monterrey instead, according to the Daily Mail.

There may even be a hint of karma in it: Miguel Mejía Baron, a member of Pumas’ recruitment team, demanded an apology over the fiasco – one that never came.

Man Utd Must Go All-Out to Sign Real Madrid Star Endrick

Published

Manchester United have been in the market to bolster their midfield all summer, and Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni has emerged as the top target.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have already arrived for a combined £83m, but Michael Carrick is understood to still be pushing for at least one more arrival following the departure of Casemiro at the end of his contract, and Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury, which he suffered at the World Cup.

But while midfield has been a major priority, Tchouameni’s move to Old Trafford remains at a standstill, with it still being unclear whether the player wants the move, or if Real Madrid would even be open to a sale.

Part of the reason for the move not progressing is that Real Madrid are now eyeing a move for Man City star Rodri. Should that move progress, with the midfielder keen to make the switch back to his homeland, then they are likely to need to make a sale.

Tchouameni is the obvious option, with such strong interest, but he isn’t the only one, and it’s possible that he could stay even if Rodri arrives.

With so much uncertainty around the situation, Man Utd simply cannot afford to wait around and see if a deal could happen. They need to make a final decision to ensure their new-look midfield is in place when the season starts.

Players like Carlos Baleba remain active options for the midfield, and United could easily switch their priority to that to make sure. But that doesn’t mean that contact with Real Madrid needs to stop.

Midfield isn’t the only position that Man Utd want to strengthen in this window, with left-back and the attack also in need of reinforcements before the window closes. Real Madrid are likely to make more sales before the deadline too, and one star in particular should be at the top of Man Utd’s radar.

Man Utd Must Go All-Out for Endrick

Reports have emerged that Real Madrid could be willing to sell Brazilian forward Endrick, following the imminent arrival of Yan Diomande and new striker Carlos Espi.

Endrick, who has been described as a ‘game-changer’, spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan at Lyon and registered eight goals and eight assists in 21 appearances for the French side, playing as both a number nine and on the right wing.

With Man Utd keen to add to their attack to find cover and competition for Benjamin Sesko, as well as question marks over Marcus Rashford’s future, this is the perfect opportunity to do just that and bring in a top talent who is ready to explode.

Tchouameni is a top footballer and would be perfect for the midfield, but a deal isn’t in their control at this stage. Should Man Utd complete a deal for Baleba and then sign Endrick on top of that, it would arguably make the squad even stronger.

Oba Femi’s Body Transformation Since His First Match With Brock Lesnar

Published

By

Ahead of his Hell in a Cell showdown with Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam on Saturday night, footage has emerged revealing Oba Femi’s considerable body transformation for the biggest match of his career.

As WWE prepares to descend on Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lesnar’s hometown, the rivalry is tied at one apiece.

Femi arrives with a physique that looks very different from that which he was sporting during the pair’s first meeting at WrestleMania 42 in April.

Oba Femi vs Brock Lesnar Explored

Oba shocked the WWE Universe at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, dismantling Lesnar in what many believed was the 49-year-old’s final match.

‘The Beast Incarnate’ looked to be saying his goodbyes to WWE as he removed his gloves and boots while fighting back tears. However, he would be back in action just a matter of weeks later.

Lesnar resurfaced in May, challenging Oba to a rematch at Clash in Italy. Brock got his win back after hitting seven F5s on ‘The Ruler’, setting the stage for a Hell in a Cell rubber match inside U.S. Bank Stadium.

Likely knowing that he was going to be working a long-term feud with Lesnar, Oba has certainly been putting in the work in the gym since WrestleMania.

A viral social media post has captured the huge difference in Femi’s physique after his body transformation was on full display during this past week’s episode of Raw on Netflix. Femi weighed in at 302 pounds, eight pounds lighter than when he made his debut.

The visual evidence was undeniable. Oba appears noticeably leaner than he was at WrestleMania, with his abs now clearly visible. The caption attached to the comparison footage pointed out that Femi had traded a “bulky look” for a new “shredded” physique.

Oba’s decision to relinquish his world title opportunity after winning the King of the Ring tournament in favour of facing Brock underscores how personal this rivalry has become.

Ultimately, ending the feud with Lesnar matters more than championship gold. It is likely that the company believes that beating Lesnar in his hometown inside Hell in a Cell will elevate Femi in ways a belt can’t.

While the pair are bitter rivals on screen, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque recently revealed that Lesnar had become a mentor to Femi backstage.

Speaking onBusted Open Radio, Triple H admitted:”He’d probably suplex me for saying this, but Brock is hands-on with Oba Femi. He sees something special there, and he’s like, ‘Okay kid, come with me, and I’m going to teach you. Here’s all the things you got to learn.’ He brings him in his room in the afternoon. They sit for hours and talk about this stuff, right?

Whether Brock was a driving force behind Femi’s decision to lean up may never be known. What is known is that Oba is a major favourite to win Saturday’s Hell in a Cell match, a result that would see the 28-year-old claim the biggest win of his career as he continues to cement his place in the main event scene.
