Crazy England U15 Team Sheet From 2017 Resurfaces

Published

on

England have always been a nation who have always boasted hyper-talented youth teams. Think about it: where would the likes of Harry Kane, Phil Foden and Declan Rice have learned the international craft?

And that notion rings true given that a team sheet, from an England Under-15’s 4-3 defeat to Belgium in 2017, has re-emerged – and the talent that then-boss Kevin Betsy had at his disposal was scary.

Jeremy Doku shone for the Red Devils’ youth side as they reigned victorious, but Betsy and his entourage had both Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham warming the bench as his side walked out to represent their nation.

The aforementioned duo have gone on to become some of world football’s leading superstars – but what happened to those who wormed their way into the starting line-up ahead of them? From the goalkeeper to the solitary centre forward, let’s take a look.

Goalkeeper and Defence

Serine Sanneh, Matthew Dennis, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Harry Williams, Tristin Cover

Serine Sanneh, once of West Ham United, was in between the sticks for Betsy’s England side that day. Having switched his allegiance to the Gambia, the goalkeeper now plays for ninth-tier side Rusthall FC and extended his stay at the club in the summer of 2024. A recent video of him reuniting with Cole Palmer went viral, and the clip is good enough to brighten anyone’s day. Watch below:

Stationed on the right-hand side of the back four was then-Arsenal prospect Matthew Dennis, who now plies his trade in the centre forward position. After struggling to break through in north London, he has jumped from club to club and joined League Two strugglers Carlisle United in 2025, before then jumping ship again to join Notts County – he has 10 goals in 22 matches so far.

The centre-back partnership of Malachi Fagan-Walcott and Harry Williams was one that was highly thought of – but neither have been able to meet the expectations laid out before them.

Fagan-Walcott, now 23 years of age, recently moved from Cardiff City to National League side York City. The defender’s last time representing his country came in 2019 when he racked up three appearances, under Steve Cooper, at Under-17 level. Meanwhile, formerly of West Bromwich Albion, Williams made just one appearance for the England U15s. At club level, he is now representing League Two outfit Walsall.

Currently a free agent, Tristin Cover was – at least, most recently – playing out in Dubai but has been without a club since January 2024. Failing to make it at Fulham, he moved to non-league football for Wingate FC and Sutton Common before heading abroad. He is still only 23.

Midfield

Noni Madueke, Yunus Musah, Cole Palmer

Now we are starting to get into the big names. Noni Madueke, who has become a popular player under new England manager Thomas Tuchel, was deployed as a central midfielder when England faced Belgium eight years ago.

Having become a fully-fledged member of Chelsea’s bloated first team ranks, before then making a controversial £48.5 million switch to Arsenal ahead of the 2025/26 season, the 23-year-old has earned nine caps for England’s senior side and, with both his club and national team boss loving what he brings to their teams, he’s only just getting started.

Every Player to Receive First England Call-Up Under Lee Carsley

From Angel Gomes to Morgan Gibbs-White, Lee Carsley hasn’t been afraid of giving chances as England interim boss.

Yunus Musah was once a gem in Arsenal’s academy but, similarly to Sanneh, has since altered who he represents on the international stage and now turns out for the United States on a regular basis. A 47-cap international, he earns his corn for AC Milan after impressing at Valencia for three years – though he is currently out on loan at fellow Italian side Atalanta.

A man who needs no introduction is Cole Palmer. Now widely regarded as one of the best wingers in Chelsea’s long and storied history, left Manchester City for the Blues in the summer of 2023 – and the leap of faith has paid off.

Instantly becoming the west Londoners’ talisman, the 12-cap England international has become a menace in the final third – having plundered 46 goals and 29 assists in 104 outings for his current employers.

Attack

Lewis Fiorini, Rafael Garcia, Armstrong Oko-Flex

Once talented enough to keep the likes of Musiala and Karamoko Dembele out of proceedings, Lewis Fiorini plied his trade on the right flank, per Transfermarkt. A central midfielder by trade, the Manchester-born ace opted to play for Scotland in years gone by, racking up 13 caps and three goals for their Under-21s.

At club level, the 23-year-old was on Manchester City’s books until last summer, before joining Stockport County. After struggling for game-time at the League One promotion contenders, he joined Scottish Premiership side Dundee United on loan in January.

Betsy’s lone striker for the affair was Rafael Garcia. Also eligible to ply his international trade for Spain, the former Fulham and Everton prospect spent the second half of 2023/24 with Spanish second tier side AD Alcorcon’s B team before sealing a surprise move to Finnish club JJK Jyvaskyla. He left the club in January and is currently a free agent.

Dublin-born Amstrong Oko-Flex played just one game for England’s Under-15 – and a handful of games for the Under-16 and 17s – before switching to play for his native Ireland.

The left winger, now 23, enjoyed the infancy of his career playing for Arsenal’s youth but struggled to progress into senior proceedings. After stints with Celtic, West Ham United and Swansea City, the 2002-born man is now playing in Bulgaria for First League club Botev Plovdiv.

Substitutes Bench

Tom Smith, Samson Robinson, Karamoko Dembele, Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala, Teddy Jenks, Morgan Rogers, Dynel Simeu, Amadou Diallo

England’s substitutes’ bench on that day is the perfect encapsulation of the plethora of talent they had at their disposal. Former Celtic starlet Karamoko Dembele, now shining for QPR, was waiting on the wings during Betsy’s side’s defeat in 2017.

As was none other than Bellingham, who did manage to feature off the bench. Just 13 years of age back then, nobody could foresee what a world-leading talent the Real Madrid man would become. One of the most valuable footballers in the world, the heights this man can achieve are unrivalled.

Musiala was a young and hungry hotshot for Chelsea at the time but, upon leaving England, joined Bayern Munich – and the rest is, well, history. As technically gifted as footballers come, the one-time Champions League winner has north of 150 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

Also joining them on the bench was Morgan Rogers, a player who has been a shining star for Aston Villa over the last two campaigns. The Halesowen-born star was primed in Manchester City’s academy ranks before joining Middlesbrough and then Unai Emery’s side, where he has, against all odds, managed to prove he’s currently more valuable to the England senior team than the likes of Phil Foden.

Spain’s Nico Williams Calls Out Uruguay Ace After He Suffers Injury

Published

Nico Williams has opened up on the mental and physical toll of the past year and a half after suffering a fresh injury during Spain’s group stage win over Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup, leaving his involvement in the rest of the tournament in doubt.

The Athletic Club winger had only come on as a substitute in the 76th minute, before picking up the issue following a challenge from Nicolas de la Cruz, who was booked for the tackle.

Williams has endured persistent fitness problems in the last 18 months, and this latest setback has clearly hit hard, with the 23-year-old reflecting on just how much he’s had to overcome to get back on the pitch.

Williams, who has been subject to transfer interest from Arsenal, didn’t hold back when describing what he’s been through before reflecting on the latest blow.

“Today is one of the worst days of my life. I’ve gotten injured again after a very tough year, one in which the pubic symphysis pain won many battles against me, but not the war.”

Dream Arteta Target: Arsenal Confident of Signing ‘Absolutely Frightening’ Star

Arsenal are in need of attacking reinforcements.

He continued by detailing just how much the injury affected his daily life, admitting: “It was a year and a half of suffering, sadness, uncertainty, and anxiety. I didn’t know when I’d be able to play without pain again or when I’d get back to a normal life. I even got to the point of living with the pain in things as simple as going to the bathroom, getting in and out of the car, or just enjoying day-to-day life.”

Turning to the incident involving De la Cruz, Williams suggested frustration played a part in the challenge that caused his injury.

“Yesterday, I was caused a new injury after an action in which a fellow professional acted out of frustration, discontent, and sadness over the situation he was going through.”

“It was a play that, in my opinion, could have been avoided because it was completely unnecessary.”

We’ve ranked the best 11 Spanish-born players in the history of football, taking into account several factors such as trophies won and longevity.

Despite the disappointment, Williams remained defiant, insisting that there’s a chance he’ll be seen playing again during the tournament: “But this won’t stop me either. I know God has a plan for me, and I’ll keep fighting until the very last moment to get back to doing what I love most: playing soccer, being happy, and bringing joy to many.” Before going on to say that “the story isn’t over—we’ll see each other as soon as possible in this World Cup.”

It’s been a forgettable World Cup for Uruguay, and the manner of their exit has only added to that reputation. Agustin Canobbio was shown a straight red card in the same match for diving in on Pau Cubarsi, leading to some chaotic scenes as tempers flared late on.

FIFA have approved the kit design, despite being against it in the past.

The defeat means Uruguay finish bottom of Group H and head home without a single win to their name this summer, leaving Williams’ injury as just one of several incidents that have left a sour taste from their campaign.

Everton are looking at potential midfield additions this summer, as Marca claims the Toffees are eyeing a deal for a World Cup star in the transfer market.

There is uncertainty specifically surrounding the future of Idrissa Gana Gueye, as the experienced midfielder’s contract comes to an end at the beginning of next month.

In the retained list, the club confirmed that talks were continuing over a potential extension for the 36-year-old, with no confirmation over fresh terms as things stand.

While that could yet signal an exit for him, Everton are looking at other midfield options, one of which is an international teammate of Gueye.

Everton Want Pape Gueye Transfer

A potential replacement for Idrissa Gueye could be his international teammate Pape Gueye, who has been impressing for Senegal in the World Cup this summer.

Marca reports that Everton are keen on a deal for the 27-year-old midfielder, with Villarreal expecting to sell the star for a big fee in the coming weeks of the transfer market.

The Toffees hold an advantage over some of their rivals in the race, as it’s claimed that Gueye is prioritising a move to the Premier League over any other option.

That only remains an advantage if they are the only team from England eyeing up a deal, as others in the division could soon enter the race for his signature.

Gueye made 39 appearances for Villarreal last season, scoring five goals and assisting twice. While he impressed with those displays, it’s at the World Cup where the Senegal star is really showing his class and quality.

The World Cup is platforming plenty of top stars, with the competition likely to play a huge part in some key transfer switches across the world.

Everton could benefit from that, with Gueye being among those who have impressed in the tournament so far, following three group stage matches.

That was the moment he became a record-breaker in the competition, with Senegal now dreaming of putting together a deep run with Gueye at the heart of the midfield.

Arsenal Problem Emerges As Barcelona Join Transfer Race For Kroupi

Published

Arsenal could face a battle to land one of their striker transfer targets this summer, as Sport reports that Barcelona are also eyeing a possible deal.

The Gunners are in the market for a possible centre-forward addition, despite making the move to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP last year.

Over the course of last season, the Sweden international came up with some important goals as he bagged 21 goals across all competitions.

There was plenty left to be desired, however, and in the long-term, Arsenal may be considering their next move at centre-forward to add another clinical option.

One target is Eli Junior Kroupi, who the Gunners are now facing even more competition to sign.

Barcelona Want Kroupi Transfer

eli kroupi

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Bournemouth striker Kroupi, who impressed in his debut campaign in the Premier League last season.

The forward scored 13 goals in the Premier League, aged just 20, showing plenty of quality and some potential to grow even further in the future.

Bournemouth have set a transfer price tag worth over £100 million to secure a move for Kroupi, an expensive deal but one that may be worth it as the Gunners look to repeat their success in the Premier League.

That said, there is competition for his signature, as Sport now reports that Barcelona are monitoring a deal for the Frenchman as a potential option this summer.

Kroupi is viewed as a “Plan B” to Barca for Julian Alvarez, as a transfer saga surrounding the Atletico Madrid star continues to drag out in public.

The deal could put Arsenal on the back foot in any approach for the Bournemouth ace, as they are busy pursuing midfield options as it stands.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will make an offer, and whether it will be enough to tempt the Cherries into sanctioning an exit.

However, it could still work in Arsenal’s favour if a move does come about.

If Barcelona do end up moving for Kroupi, it may come as a blow for Arsenal, but it could also open up another deal for the side this summer.

Alvarez has been a target for the Gunners for some time now, but a move currently seems unlikely while the versatile striker pushes to join Barca.

Arsenal Ready £80M Bid For ‘Brilliant’ Star As Contract Decision Made

Arsenal are preparing a bid for a key transfer target, after receiving positive communication from representatives of the player.

If the Catalonian side push to land Kroupi instead, that is likely to close off the route to Alvarez, opening up a possible deal for Mikel Arteta’s team instead.

It remains to be seen just how possible that is, with Atletico Madrid seemingly holding firm on their stance that no sale will be happening this summer.
