Mohamed Salah Becomes Al Ittihad Top Target After ‘Crazy’ Benzema Move

Published

on

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is now the top target for Saudi club Al Ittihad this summer after Karim Benzema’s exit in the winter window, according to reports in the Middle East.

The Reds have had a mixed campaign so far this season but claimed a vital 4-1 win over Newcastle at Anfield on Saturday night, making it back-to-back wins after their 6-0 drubbing of Qarabag in the Champions League, where Salah scored his first goal for the club since November 1st.

But it’s been a difficult season so far for the Egyptian, and after a major fallout with Arne Slot and the board earlier this season, it’s possible that he could be on the move by the time the season comes to a close.

Mohamed Salah Top Saudi Target After Benzema Move

Salah, described as ‘world-class’, was strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia last summer before he signed a new two-year contract at Anfield, ending months of speculation over his future.

But after Karim Benzema made the ‘crazy’ move from Al Hilal to Al Ittihad on deadline day following a contract dispute, the PIF-owned club are prepared to make a fresh move for the Liverpool legend this year and finally take him to the Saudi Pro League.

It’s understood that the 33-year-old is considered to be the league’s top target to replace the former Ballon d’Or winner, and with Moussa Diaby also linked with an exit, his preferred right winger spot will be available for him to take immediately upon his arrival.

There has currently been no contact between the parties about a move in the summer, but Salah is understood to be open to making the switch if they can agree a deal with Liverpool. However, the Saudi club are not confident about sealing a deal since he is under contract until 2027 and Slot’s future as manager is also in question.

Perfect Time for Liverpool to Cash In on Salah

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah clapping

It’s never an easy time to say goodbye to a legend, but this summer is the best chance Liverpool will get to part ways with Salah on good terms.

It’s clear that he is not as good as he once was, and his attitude and expectation of being a guaranteed starter all the time is doing more harm than good at the moment.

Whether Slot stays or goes shouldn’t matter, and the club should cash in on Salah in the summer rather than lose him on a free the year after, and use the money to replenish the squad properly for the manager to mount another title challenge.

Tottenham Could Reluctantly Sell Four Young Stars After De Zerbi Decision

Published

Tottenham Hotspur could reluctantly sell four of their best young players after a decision made by Roberto De Zerbi ahead of next season.

It was expected that Tottenham would make some big moves in the summer transfer window to back Roberto De Zerbi after he kept the club in the Premier League, but ENIC have gone into overdrive and are showing huge ambition.

They have already announced two genius low-cost signings in Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, who have joined the club on free transfers, while also confirming the £52m signing of Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Hove Albion.

With Ben Davies and Pedro Porro also signing new contracts to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, De Zerbi now appears to be satisfied with his defensive options heading into next season.

Now, attention has turned to the midfield and the attack, with it being suggested by top Spurs source Paul O’Keefe that the club want to complete seven signings this summer.

Next they are looking to sign at least one central midfielder, as well as a left-winger, right-winger and a centre-forward.

Tottenham are already pushing hard to bring in Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United with the player open to a move, while they are also showing interest in Mateus Fernandes at London rivals West Ham United.

According to O’Keefe, Tottenham could lose some of their best young players this summer.

The additions of Senesi and Van Hecke already suggest that De Zerbi is ready to go with experience in his backline, which has raised doubts over the future of returning loanee Luka Vuskovic.

The 19-year-old Croatian has been the subject of three bids from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion, with the player said to be keen on the move.

The teenager might not be the last potential exit for a youngster however, with O’Keefe claiming on X that De Zerbi has already decided that he wants senior professionals and that the likes of Vuskovic, Lucas Bergvall, Mathys Tel and Pape Matar Sarr are unlikely to get many minutes next term.

While Tottenham are unlikely to sell all of those players, their resolve could be tested if serious bids are submitted.

Tottenham Must Not Neglect the Future

While the short-term is obviously hugely important for Tottenham as they look to surge back up the Premier League and compete at the right end of the table again, they also need to consider their future as well.

Players like Archie Gray, Bergvall and Vuskovic were signed because the club believed they could be important players for many years, and it would be a long-term risk to cast those individuals aside or make them unhappy now.

De Zerbi needs to find a balance and a blend of youth and experience to ensure Tottenham can keep hold of their best youngsters, rather than seeing players like Vuskovic seek a move elsewhere to play regularly.

Ally McCoist Confused By Achraf Hakimi Boos vs Scotland

ITV commentator Ally McCoist has been criticised after being left confused by many inside Boston Stadium loudly booing Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi against Scotland.

The African nation flew into a dream start as Ismael Saibari took advantage of a Grant Hanley mistake to break free and fire into the top corner past Angus Gunn. That was enough to seal a 1-0 victory and move Morocco above Steve Clarke’s men in the World Cup Group C standings.

During the match, Hakimi’s every touch was met with jeers inside the stadium. It came on the same day it was confirmed he would stand trial for a rape allegation from 2023.

During the first half of the game in Boston, McCoist picked up on the fact that Hakimi was being booed. The 63-year-old, who was on ITV’s commentary team, claimed the Paris Saint-Germain full-back had done something to ‘upset the locals’. He said:

“Not sure what Hakimi has done to upset the locals, but he’s done something.”

This comment was quickly picked up by fans watching from home. One X user asked: “How did Ally McCoist miss this today when he’s a commentator for the game?”

FIFA Forced to Make 2026 World Cup U-Turn After Bizarre Achraf Hakimi Incident

FIFA have been forced into a U-turn over a 2026 World Cup rule that caused major backlash on social media.

Another wasn’t too impressed at the perceived lack of preparation from the ex-Scotland international: “Has Ally McCoist really just said he doesn’t know why Hakimi is being booed? Glad to see he’s done his research as a commentator.”

“I honestly think Ally McCoist is just completely ignorant to the Hakimi news,” another added. One football fan claimed it was ‘inexcusable’ to not be aware of the situation.

Hakimi has consistently maintained his innocence, and released a statement after his appeal against standing trial was unsuccessful. Taking to social media on Friday, the 27-year-old posted:

“Justice looked me in the eyes and said to me: ‘If you weren’t famous, there never would have been a case.

“I chose to remain silent for years. I thought that staying dignified, being patient, and trusting the justice system would allow the right decisions to be made.

“Today, a story that is not mine is being told at the expense of my family, my life, and above all, the truth. Sometimes I feel like I’ve become an easy target.

“I’ve been waiting for this trial since day one. And now I’m looking forward to it. Finally, I will be able to speak.”

Hakimi’s trial will reportedly take place in the coming months.

Andy Murray Named Which of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic He Didn’t Mind Playing

Who could ever forget the ‘Big Four’ that dominated tennis for decades? Before Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner entered the scene with their iconic matches, there was the indomitable quartet of Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer.

Their might transcended tennis and transformed them into household names, regardless of whether people were tennis fans or not.

From the 2003 Australian Open to the 2026 French Open, the four have won a combined total of 69 Grand Slam titles out of 93.

‘Big Four’ Have Dominated Modern Tennis

Djokovic leads the way with a record 24 titles, including a triple Career Grand Slam. Nadal is close behind with 22, including a double Career Grand Slam and a record 14 French Open titles, notably favouring the clay courts of Roland Garros, which earned him the nickname ‘The King of Clay.’

Federer has 20 Grand Slam wins, including a record eight men’s singles Wimbledon titles and holds the record for winning five consecutive titles in two different tournaments, winning from 2003-2007 at Wimbledon and 2004-2008 at the US Open.

Murray’s Grand Slam victories pale in comparison to the other three, who are acclaimed as the greatest tennis players ever. The Scot only won three Slams in his career, the 2012 US Open, the 2013 Wimbledon Championships, and the 2016 Wimbledon Championships.

However, he is more than deserving of his spot alongside the three, with more victories against them than anyone in history. He defeated Federer to take a gold medal on home soil at the 2012 London Olympics and defeated Djokovic for both his US Open victory, where he became the first British major singles champion since Virginia Wade in 1977, and his 2013 Wimbledon victory, becoming the first Brit to take the win since Fred Perry in 1936.

He also defended his gold medal in Brazil at the 2016 Rio Olympics to become the only player, male or female, to win two Olympic gold medals in singles.

Now, Murray has had his say on which of his fellow ‘Big Four’ members he felt the most comfortable playing against.

Andy Murray’s Preferred Opponent Out of ‘Big Four’

Speaking on former cricketer Kevin Pietersen’s YouTube channel, the Glaswegian highlighted Federer as the opponent he felt more at ease sharing a court with.

Though he has an 11-14 record against the Swiss powerhouse, Murray enjoyed clashes with him more than his battles with Nadal and Djokovic.

Speaking on The Switch, he said: “He [Federer] was the guy that was comfortably number one in the world at the time. The first time [I played him] was in 2005.

“I played against him in the final of a tournament in Bangkok. It was my first final on the main tour. I actually played a good match [but] I lost.

25 Greatest Male Tennis Players in History [Ranked]

Unsurprisingly, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic all make the list, but who else joins them?

“I played against him 25 times in total. I’ve got 11 wins against him and I didn’t mind playing him as much as some of the others.”

He has the same number of wins against Federer as he does against Djokovic, though, the Serb has defeated him 25 times and eight times in Slams. They are one of two male pairs to have contended the finals of each of the four Grand Slams, with Djokovic and Nadal being the other.

Andy Murray

Murray admitted that before joining the ATP Tour, he already admired Federer, stating: “I loved watching [Federer]. I had an injury when I was 16 where I couldn’t play for like six months and I used to sit and take notes on him and watch a lot of the top players.

“It helped me because when I then went on the tour, I felt like I’d seen so much of them. I actually had a plan at how I’d go about playing against them.”

While the Scotsman has a lot of praise for Federer, it was Nadal who famously once said: “In terms of level of tennis, in terms of mentality, winning spirit, Andy was the only one at the level of myself, Roger [Federer] and Novak [Djokovic].”

Andy Murray

The Spaniard may have beaten Murray on 17 occasions, with the Brit only felling the icon seven times, but he showed considerable strength, resilience, and fortitude. Despite ultimately losing in their five-set thriller at the 2011 Australian Open, Murray is remembered for his tenacity and ability to handle the intense playing style of Nadal.

The ultimate debate about the best tennis player ever is multi-faceted and contentious, but Murray deserves to be remembered and respected for his determination and strong work ethic.
