The immediate past Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim, has obtained the governorship expression of interest form under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kashim confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday, describing the move as the start of his bid for the governorship seat.

He said the decision followed consultations with supporters across the state and a commitment to offering improved governance and development.

The former SSG stated that his aspiration was driven by the need to strengthen service delivery in key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic development.

He also noted that the objective of his campaign was to expand opportunities for the youths and improve living conditions across Bauchi State.

The politician, who recently moved from the Social Democratic Party, SDP, to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, said the shift was aimed at strengthening his political platform ahead of the election.

He added that his focus remained on promoting unity, development and improved governance in the state.

2027: NDC will win before 12 noon in free, fair election – Fayose

Isaac Fayose, younger brother to former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state says the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, will win the 2027 presidential polls in a free and fair election.

Fayose made this remark in a post on his Facebook page on Sunday.

He was reacting to Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike, who said he does not have electoral values in Ekiti state.

“If you think I don’t have electoral value in Ekiti state, why are you guys rigging? Why are you people buying votes as much as N50,000?

“Why are you people arresting my boys a week before Ekiti governorship election? Electoral value is not on rigging or on judicial pronouncement.

“If they call election today, NDC will win before 12 noon if the elections were free and fair. The only power you people have over us is rigging and the people are quiet,” he said.

‘Obi, Atiku cannot mobilise support in North to defeat Tinubu’ – Ganduje

The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has boasted that the presidential candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, respectively, do not have the grassroots structure and regional appeal required to “penetrate the North” and unseat incumbent President Bola Tinubu.

“The North is strategic in every presidential election in Nigeria. With due respect to our friends in the opposition, neither Peter Obi nor Atiku Abubakar can mobilise enough support in this region to defeat President Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

The former APC chairman also raised concerns over the growing number of political parties in the country, calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to raise the bar for party registration.

He argued that only political parties with functional structures, clear ideologies and broad national reach should be recognised by the electoral body.

Ganduje’s comments come amid ongoing realignments within opposition ranks as political actors begin early consultations ahead of the 2027 general election.

He emphasised that Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar lack the political backing in Northern Nigeria to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential election.

Ganduje made the remarks at a public event in Kano on Monday, where he assessed the strength of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 presidential poll.
