The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said if elected, his leadership would pursue democracy with integrity, fairness, and transparency.

Obi made this promise on Saturday during his acceptance speech shortly after he was declared the presidential flag bearer of the party ahead of the next year’s general elections.

He also said that the rule of law would be fiercely upheld, stating that adherence to it would be sacrosanct for both government officials and citizens alike in accordance with our constitutional frameworks.

“Our democracy will exemplify true governance of the people, by the people, and for the people, completely free from interference by the ruling party.

“Instead, we will institutionalise deep respect for opposition parties and foster constructive engagement in governance.

“Under my leadership, democracy will be pursued with integrity, fairness, and transparency,” he said.
