Security operatives arrest alleged terrorist informant in Niger

Security operatives have arrested a suspected informant believed to be working with Boko Haram elements in Niger State.

The arrest was contained in a post shared on X on Tuesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, troops of the 221 Battalion, working together with personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), carried out the operation under Operation Savannah Shield.

The suspect was picked up around 1:00 p.m. on May 30 in Koro community, Kainji axis of Borgu Local Government Area following credible intelligence on his movements.

Security sources said the suspect was allegedly providing information and support to Boko Haram members and had links to a previous attack in Kwankoso village.

He was also said to have fled the area after the incident, first moving to Shafashi before relocating to Kaoje in Kebbi State, where he was later tracked down to Kainji in Niger State.

“The suspect was arrested during a coordinated intelligence-led operation and is currently in military custody for further investigation,” a source said.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of his involvement in terrorist activities and to identify possible collaborators.

Police arrest 10 suspected human parts sellers in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected human parts sellers.

The suspects were arrested in the Iseyin and Saki areas of the state.

Public Relations Officer of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include one suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull and assorted charms.

The statement said the exhibits have been secured for forensic examination and further investigation.

The suspects were identified as Adam Ibrahim, Nasiru Kabiru, Tijani Wasiu, Abiola Nasiru, Amusa Gbadamosi, Raheem Taofeek, Jimoh Muritala, Suleiman Busari, Ganiyu Nurudeen and Usman Abdullahi.

Kano police arrest armed robbery suspects, recover arms, stolen livestock

The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of nine suspects in separate operations involving illegal firearms, armed robbery and livestock theft across the state.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the operations were carried out on August 13, 2026, following credible intelligence and information from members of the public.

The Command said operatives of the Dorayi Babba Division, acting on information from a member of the public, intercepted a suspicious parcel at Rijiyar Zaki Motor Park at about 2:30 p.m. A Tokarev pistol loaded with 48 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered.

The suspect reportedly confessed to purchasing the firearm and ammunition from another state and transporting them to another person in a different state. Police said investigation was ongoing to trace and arrest other suspected accomplices in the illegal arms supply chain.

In Rogo Local Government Area, operatives of the Rogo Police Division arrested five suspected armed robbers at Jajaye Village. The suspects were identified as Basiru Ibrahim, 25; Saidu Madaki, 23; Sa’adu Ibrahim, 25; Lawan Yusuf, 24; and Muktar Salisu, 21.

The statement revealed that preliminary investigation linked the suspects to four alleged cases involving criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy and armed robbery in Jajaye Village and surrounding areas. They were also alleged to have confessed to stealing about five motorcycles and other valuables.

The Command also reported the recovery of a stolen cow and ram in Gaya. According to the release, operatives intercepted Karimu Mamman and Madama, both males from Jube Village, while allegedly in possession of the stolen animals. Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspected members of the alleged syndicate.

The police said the suspects were charged to court for prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended residents for their vigilance and timely information, saying public cooperation had contributed significantly to the successes recorded by the Command.

“The Command remains resolute in sustaining community policing, intelligence gathering, and inter-agency collaboration to ensure Kano State remains safe and secure for all residents,” CP Bakori said.

The Commissioner also commended officers and men of the Dorayi Babba, Rogo and Gaya Divisions for their professionalism, steadfastness and commitment to duty.

Police foil bandits’ attack, rescue kidnap victims in Katsina

Katsina State Police Command has foiled an attack by suspected bandits in Fulalawa village, Musawa Local Government Area of the state, rescuing several kidnap victims and recovering two motorcycles.

The command’s spokesman, Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the incident occurred on August 13, 2026, at about 11:30 am.

According to him, the Musawa Police Division received a distress call reporting that suspected armed bandits had attacked the village with dangerous weapons.

Aliyu said the attackers broke into local shops, abducted several residents and rustled livestock during the attack.

He said a joint security team was immediately deployed to the area, adding that the bandits opened fire when they sighted the team.

“On sighting the team, the bandits opened fire. The joint team responded with superior tactics and firepower, forcing the attackers to abandon their captives and flee into nearby bushes with suspected gunshot injuries,” he said.

The police spokesman said all the kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed and had been reunited with their families.

He added that two operational motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing bandits were recovered at the scene.

Aliyu said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
