Tottenham Hotspur youngster Alfie Dorrington is not leaving the club, yet, after performing a last-ditch u-turn on completing a move to Poland.
The 21-year-old looked set to depart Spurs on a permanent basis this summer after Polish side Pogon Szczecin agreed a deal with the north Londoners to sign him.
It looked like the move was sorted, but Dorrington has had a late change of heart and has turned down the chance to move to the continent.
That does not mean he will not leave N17 this summer, but the young defender has made it clear he would like to look for other opportunities in England, rather than going abroad.
Newcastle United are monitoring Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe, although Aston Villa are one of the clubs they face stiff competition from for his signature, according to TEAMtalk.
Rowe joined the Serie A side from Marseille last summer, and quickly established himself as one of the key men in the Rossoblu’s attack. Netting eight goals and providing four assists across all competitions, a number of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle and Aston Villa, are now interested in signing the 23-year-old.
They desperately need reinforcements to ensure Eddie Howe’s ensemble is in a good place to attack a European spot next season. Replacing Gordon’s pace and output is vital, and the Tynesiders’ hierarchy believe Rowe could be the man to do this.
TEAMtalk report that Newcastle are one of a number of English clubs closely observing the winger’s situation in Italy.
The north-east outfit have held discussions over the conditions of a potential deal, with a view to making a move later in the window.
However, the same report indicates that Bologna aren’t keen on sanctioning Rowe’s departure, after the Englishman played an essential role in their march to a top-eight Serie A finish last term.
Premier League clubs looking to sign the former Norwich City man would need to stump up a significant fee, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle are willing to do this, as they continue to monitor alternative targets.

While Tonali, and potentially Guimaraes, will be huge losses in the engine room for Howe, Gordon’s absence from the English coach’s team will arguably be as detrimental.
The England winger was Newcastle’s primary attacking threat in their highly transitional system, relying on the Barcelona man’s running in behind and ability to get on the end of moves.
Rowe also excels in this part of the game, making him a sensible replacement target. That said, the Bologna wide man arguably offers more than Gordon in terms of on-ball technical ability, and can break settled defences better than his La Liga counterpart.
Completing 2.74 dribbles per 90 in Italy, Rowe has the potential to explode back in English football.

According to Brazilian journalist Andre Hernan, Tottenham are one of many European clubs showing an interest in Coritiba winger Lucas Ronier.
Italian clubs are also said to be keen on the diminutive wide man, with the Brazilian club already making it clear they would want a similar deal to when they sold current Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha to Sion in 2017.
Ronier’s contract with Coritiba runs out in less than 18 months, and the 21-year-old is attracting suitors having scored 17 goals and registered a further nine assists in 109 outings for the club.
The 5 ft 4 winger has been described as a player who was ‘born to dribble’ by one Brazilian scouting account.

Tottenham have reportedly made contact over a potential deal to sign Franco Mastantuono from Real Madrid this summer.
Reports suggest that the La Liga giants are ready to sanction a loan move away for the talented 18-year-old, who moved to the Bernabeu last summer having impressed as a teenager for River Plate.
The teenager usually plays behind the striker or on the right-wing, and that versatility could be a key factor in Spurs’ reported interest in the 4-cap Argentina international.
Real will surely demand that the forward plays regular minutes if he does leave the club, and it remains to be seen whether De Zerbi can give that guarantee given he has shown a tendency to favour experience over youth during his time in charge of Tottenham to date.
What is clear is that Mastantuono is a wonderkid with a big future ahead of him and would be a huge coup for Spurs, with Real president Florentino Perez describing him as ‘one of the biggest talents in world football’.

In said video, the former undisputed UFC featherweight champion looked more than capable of carrying out leg day work despite claiming he would need to undergo surgery on his knee.
The footage seems to show a distinct lack of swelling in the problematic knee, and surgery to rectify that problem has seemingly yet to be undertaken, with eagle-eyed commenters questioning why no surgical scar was present.
While that in itself doesn’t fully prove or disprove claims that McGregor faked the injury, it has led to many questioning if the severity of the damage was overstated.
An alternative narrative is also possible. The striker could very well just be putting in the work on the advice of his camp to strengthen the area around the injury before any operation and another return to the UFC.
What hasn’t helped to disprove the rumours is the relative muteness between both White and McGregor, who have been notably reluctant to share details regarding the setback.
This isn’t the first time the PPV king has been subjected to an ACL issue of this magnitude. In a curious coincidence, it has happened before during his first bout with Max Holloway back in 2013, only in his opposite leg. On that particular night, he was able to pull through and win at the expense of an 11-month absence.
