Everton manager David Moyes is set to have a new-look midfield at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next season but could look to bring one familiar face back to Merseyside.

The Toffees confirmed the departure of stalwart Idrissa Gueye last month and beat serious Premier League competition to recruit the in-demand Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough for a fee that could rise to £24 million.

Christian Norgaard is expected to be next through the door after a deal was struck with Arsenal over the weekend and there is plenty of speculation that Iliman Ndiaye could leave.

Everton keen on Jack Grealish reunion

Should the Senegalese winger leave Everton, then Moyes may not need to look far for a replacement. The Sun claims that the Toffees are keen to bring Manchester City man Jack Grealish back to the club on a loan deal.

The 30-year-old, described as ‘phenomenal’, enjoyed a successful run of games under the Scotsman last term, before a foot injury ended his season in January. Grealish scored two goals and picked up six assists in 22 outings for the club.

The midfielder has returned to Manchester City but is unlikely to feature under Enzo Maresca, having been frozen out of the side by former manager Pep Guardiola.

Everton are said to view a return loan for Grealish as a realistic and risk-free move, given their knowledge of the player from his loan spell.

Moyes had been tight-lipped over a potential move to loan Grealish again.

Speaking last season, he said: “Obviously we like Jack a lot. We’ve looked after Jack all the time since his injury.

“He is incredibly well liked inside and outside the building, but ultimately, he is not our player, he is Man City’s player. We’ve had him on loan for a year and I have to say we’ve enjoyed having him.”

Atletico Madrid also tracking Manchester City man

The Toffees may have to move quickly to make that a reality, with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid also said to be considering a move for the player, alongside Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Diego Simeone’s side are known to be admirers of Grealish’s work rate and view the player as a good tactical fit for the system employed at the Wanda Metropolitano. Atletico have previously signed and had success with English players in Kieran Trippier and Conor Gallagher.

Grealish would face a battle for game time in the Spanish capital, with Atletico already signing Lee Kang-In from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Alex Baena, Thiago Almada and Ademola Lookman are also in the squad.

Grealish has returned to training following that serious foot injury but was not part of the Manchester City pre-season tour of Hong Kong and Seoul. He has since been training with RCD Mallorca as he waits for a summer move. Saudi clubs Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli and Neom are reportedly tracking the case, as too are sides in the MLS.

Crystal Palace could look to cash in on struggling forward Romain Esse this summer, as the 21-year-old struggles to reach his potential in south London.

The winger was tipped to follow in the footsteps of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze when snapped up from Millwall in January 2025 and scored on his top-flight debut against Brentford.

However, it’s been downhill since then for the star, who was shipped out on loan to Coventry City over the back end of last season. Now, a Champions League club has made contact with Esse to offer a fresh start.

Club Brugge progressing in Romain Esse talks

Transfer specialist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Club Brugge are progressing in talks with Esse. No official bid has been submitted to Crystal Palace, but initial conversations between the player and the Belgian side are believed to have been productive.

Club Brugge won the Belgian Pro League last season and will compete in the Champions League for a third successive campaign next term. Ivan Leko’s side saw winger Christos Tzolis leave the club for Arsenal on a £34 million move this summer and are in the market to replace the 22 goals and 29 assists he contributed last term.

Crystal Palace would be unlikely to stand in the way of a deal, if offered a suitable sum by Brugge. The Eagles paid £12 million to sign the player from Millwall 18 months ago, but Esse has struggled to impact the first team.

Oliver Glasner afforded the winger just 17 appearances, and one Premier League start during his time with the club. Esse, described as ‘brilliant’, did enjoy some success at Coventry City, as he helped Frank Lampard’s side to promotion with two goals and an assist.

Following his first goal for the side, Esse’s attitude was praised by Lampard. The Coventry City boss said: “He came to see me after Leicester and he wanted a little rundown of the game, which was great. I love that, he’s engaging and he wants to score more goals.

“For a modern winger, it’s really important because we know he’s got talent, a huge talent, one v one, the things he can do for us are different.

“People expect there’s a magic potion to get goals and it’s really complicated. But if you’re in and around it, you’ll get your chances and it was brilliant for him to score. I was really pleased to see him score against his old club and he deserved that.”

Esse has featured as part of Sage’s pre-season squad, coming off the bench in the 3-1 win over Al-Ula on Friday night. He also played the first 45 minutes in the 3-0 defeat to Bromley.

Preston North End have also been credited with interest in Esse this summer, with Alan Nixon reporting that Paul Heckingbottom views the England Under-21 international as an ideal option on the flank, and that contact has been made between clubs.

Celtic are now confident of beating their Scottish Premiership rivals, Rangers, to a new signing in the coming days.

The two Glasgow clubs often go head-to-head when it comes to new additions, considering their shared stature in the game.

Celtic might have the advantage over Rangers in the transfer market this summer, after they lifted the Scottish Premiership title last season and qualified for the Champions League.

Unfortunately for Rangers, Celtic have often been the more attractive prospect, although Derek McInnes’s side have enjoyed a very busy summer window so far.

It’s been a fairly slow window for Celtic as they carefully assess potential targets ahead of the new season.

According to a report from Team Talk, Celtic are confident of reaching an agreement to beat Rangers to the signing of Fares Ghedjemis in the summer transfer window.

Martin O’Neill’s side have already seen an opening offer of around £6m for the Frosinone winger rejected, but they are confident of reaching an agreement eventually.

Frosinone are holding out for a fee in the region of £8 million in order to allow Ghedjemis to depart. Talks are ramping up, with negotiations ongoing on Monday.

Rangers are another side who remain interested, but Celtic are ahead of them in the race as it stands.

The prospect of playing in Europe is appealing to Ghedjemis, and he is willing to force a move in order to tempt his club into a sale.
