WWE Accused of ‘Punishing’ Dominik Mysterio Following SummerSlam Loss
A WWE Superstar is currently being ‘punished’ by the company with the way that he is being booked.
That’s according to former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo, who believes that Dominik Mysterio is in the bad books of management following his actions after SummerSlam.
Following his loss to Danhausen on the opening night of the Premium Live Event, Dominik shared a tweet on X stating: “I’m only here so I don’t get fined.” Some saw this as a simple joke. Others, like Russo, believe this was a targeted message in response to the AAA Mega Champion’s treatment by WWE, suggesting, not all that implicitly, that he disagreed with his creative direction, but had to go along with it anyway.
Russo, who was speaking on a recent edition of ‘The Coach & Bro Show’, argued that Dominik’s loss on this morning’s edition of Raw was no simple booking decision and was actually intended to punish Dominik due to his social media activity.
Jonathan Coachman was in agreement with Russo, believing that the creative team did not want to admit Dominik had a reasonable argument and instead chose to teach him a lesson for acting out.
Russo pointed to Monday’s match, in which Dominik and JD McDonagh lost a tag team bout against Chad Gable and Penta, claiming the result lacked any sense: “Dominik got pinned in that match, guys. You could be a three-year-old… you would have known JD McDonagh was the guy to beat.”
WWE Accused of Being “Petty” Over Superstar’s Treatment
Believing this was a somewhat petty and vindictive way to treat one of WWE’s biggest names, Russo said that the better option would have been to have a private and professional discussion with Dominik backstage rather than give him a humiliating loss on live television in the hopes this would put him in his place.
Russo said: “They beat Dom with Danhausen, then he put out that tweet, then they beat him again… This is the pettiness. ‘No, Dom, you’re not going to do that… We’re going to give you a little slap on the knuckles.’ ‘Hey, Dom… if you had a problem with that on Sunday night, you should have spoke to somebody… Putting out that little meme maybe wasn’t the right thing to do.’”
Coachman then added to the criticism of the situation, saying he could imagine WWE creatives seeing the meme and rather than acknowledge a fair point may have been raised, they simply wanted to ‘”teach him a lesson.”
The pair highlighted just how quickly Dominik’s fortunes have switched as he has gone from pinning John Cena to losing versus Danhausen, and suffering tag team defeats, in less than a year.
Why Superstar is Unhappy With His Current Position on the Card
Dominik himself is reportedly unhappy with the way WWE have treated him of late. Despite being the reigning AAA Mega Champion, his career since defeating Cena has gone slightly left-field with a bizarre storyline between him and Danhausen playing out over the last few months.
A source close to Dominik, as reported by False Finish, claims that Dirty Dom belies he deserves a more prestigious role in WWE’s creative planning, particularly given the AAA Mega Championship he holds.
The source also revealed that Dominik believes WWE and AAA are demanding slightly different portrayals of him across the two outfits, leading to inconsistencies and confusion as to how his character should be perceived.

Aston Villa in Talks to Sign ‘Spectacular’ Real Madrid Star
Aston Villa have reportedly held talks with Real Madrid star Endrick’s entourage over possibly bringing the Brazilian to the Premier League.
Unai Emery’s squad has been rebuilding following the departures of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans to Manchester United. The Villans raised £152 million from their sales and have since swooped for Johan Mazambi and Joao Gomes as replacements.
With a return to the Champions League on the horizon, Emery will want to ensure he has a strong enough squad to compete on all fronts. A new attacker is on the agenda and Villa could pull off one of the biggest signings in the club’s history.
Aston Villa in Endrick Loan Talks
Endrick’s future at Madrid is in doubt, having failed to earn the desired game time at the Estadio Bernabeu. He joined the Spanish giants from Palmeiras in the summer of 2024, but he has found first-team opportunities hard to come by.
According to TEAMtalk, the Brazilian starlet’s representatives have ‘sounded out a host of Premier League clubs over a possible move.’ One of them is Villa, and a potential loan deal is a possibility, and this is the La Liga club’s preference.
Endrick similarly spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon in Ligue 1 and got his career back on track. He caught the eye with excellent performances but the French outfit didn’t have an option to buy the player.
Villa aren’t the only ones who are thought to be open to signing the 20-year-old on loan rather than permanently. Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham are also prepared to bring him to the English top-flight temporarily.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are more inclined to sign the player on loan with an option to buy. A move to Villa Park could appeal given he’ll be given the chance to be a major player in Emery’s side competing in the Champions League.

Endrick looked set to be a superstar when he joined Madrid under former manager Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian gave a glowing verdict:
“He is spectacular. He has these amazing characteristics he has shown whenever he has a chance. His accuracy is off the charts, he’s quick and he still has a lot to improve with the ball.”
Madrid president Florentino Perez is still a huge fan of the Selecao star and, as such, doesn’t want to give up on him. That could lead to another loan being sanctioned and giving the youngster the desired minutes.

Loan Could Be Ideal For Villa and Endrick
Villa have found success in the loan market in the past and that includes back in the 2024-25 campaign when they signed Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio. They could use those two players’ success at Villa Park as examples when presenting their project to Endrick.
Despite his struggles in the Spanish capital, he remains one of world football’s most promising talents. His versatility could be of huge benefit to Emery as he can play up front and out wide.
Aston Villa transfer targets
Emery has tasked himself with reviving Alejandro Garnacho’s career after signing the Argentine winger on loan from Chelsea with a view to a permanent deal. While Endrick hasn’t stumbled quite as much as the former United star, he clearly needs to be handled carefully at this stage of his career and the Villans boss is the man for the job.

Chris Waddle Names Harry Kane as His 2026 Ballon d’Or Pick
Over the years, English football has produced some truly wonderful midfielders. Across his career, Chris Waddle did more than enough to establish his place among the very best of them.
Waddle played 62 times for the Three Lions between 1985 and 1991, scoring six times. He made a name for himself with the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, before winning three successive Ligue 1 titles in France with Marseille. He later returned to England, signing for Sheffield Wednesday, and was voted FWA Footballer of the Year for his stellar performances in the 1992/93 season.
Although he doesn’t have the biggest media presence these days, it’s clear that he still watches football closely. With that in mind, it’s interesting to learn who he has backed to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Waddle Baffled by ‘Bizarre’ Ballon d’Or Expectations
As quoted by Goal, the iconic English midfielder discussed who might win the 2026 Ballon d’Or. Before naming his favourite, Waddle questioned why team trophies are viewed so highly when it comes to voting, when the prize is an individual award.
He explained: “There’s a lot of players I’d say that deserve it. But it’s just bizarre for me how you’ve got to win trophies to win the Ballon d’Or. Football’s a team game. It’s not about an individual – that’s completely different from a team. So Paris Saint-Germain win the Champions League, so all of a sudden people from PSG are thrown forward.
“With Harry [Kane], you look at the individual and think, ‘He’s played for a good side and he’s in the Champions League, got to the semis and lost out to Paris’. England didn’t win the World Cup, so that’ll harm his chances.
“You’re judged on what you do as a player individually. You don’t have to be in a winning team – that’s 11 players. Eleven players are not going to get the Ballon d’Or, one player gets it. I don’t get this rule where if they didn’t win a cup and they didn’t win the World Cup, they didn’t win the Champions League, so that’s him out of the reckoning. I just don’t get that.”
Waddle Backs English Ballon d’Or Winner
Adding to his point, he then insisted that Harry Kane deserves the prize over someone like Lamine Yamal, despite the latter’s World Cup triumph with Spain. He explained:
“I’m sorry, but you judge players on a season and Harry Kane’s had a phenomenal season for Bayern Munich and England. Why is he not being awarded it? Because he didn’t win a trophy, which is a team game, not an individual as the Ballon d’Or is. I don’t get that.
“Will some Spaniard now come forward and Yamal get it? Who’s had a decent season with Barcelona, won the league and they’ve won the World Cup, but he didn’t really play well in the World Cup, let’s be honest, he’s been injured a lot.
“But all of a sudden people like that come forward because Spain won the World Cup. It’s not about that. The Ballon d’Or should always be the best player of the season. And Harry Kane, from my eyes, should lift it.”
As things stand, Kane is among the favourites for the prize, but it does feel more likely that someone who was a key part of Spain’s World Cup-winning team – like Yamal or even Rodri – will get the most votes.

Tottenham Midfielder Offers Himself to Barcelona as Representatives Hold Talks
Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall’s representatives have reportedly offered him to Barcelona as they look for a way out of the Premier League club.
Bergvall could find it difficult to become a regular starter for Tottenham in the near future after they signed Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali during the summer transfer window.
Over the last two seasons, Bergvall has started 11 Premier League games in each, and his game time could easily decrease due to the new additions Spurs have made this summer.
Tottenham will likely want to keep Bergvall at the club heading into the new season due to his age and for squad depth reasons, but the young midfielder might have another idea.
There is undoubtedly interest in Bergvall this summer, and his agents are working on finding him a new club.
Tottenham star offers himself out
According to a report from Foot Mercato, the representatives of Tottenham midfielder Bergvall have held talks with Barcelona over a potential move to the La Liga club.
Unfortunately for the Swedish midfielder, Barcelona have no intention of reviving a deal for Bergvall after previously showing an interest back in 2024.
Bergvall’s representatives held talks with Barcelona’s sporting directors, led by Deco, and they are unwilling to reconsider signing him this summer.
Bergvall visited Barcelona in 2024 with his family, but Tottenham beat the La Liga giants to his signature due to offering more money.
A move to Barcelona doesn’t appear to be on the table, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Bergvall headed through the exit door.

Tottenham will need sales this summer
If Tottenham are going to continue their big spending in the summer transfer window, they need to ensure they offload some of their current stars.
Spurs have invested heavily in backing manager Roberto De Zerbi, but this does mean that some players will have to depart, with Tottenham well-stacked in the middle of the park.
- Sandro Tonali
- Mateus Fernandes
- Archie Gray
- Lucas Bergvall
- Rodrigo Bentancur
- Conor Gallagher
- Pape Matar Sarr
- James Maddison
It certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see one or two midfielders leave due to the arrivals of Tonali and Fernandes.
Bergvall may be one who was sacrificed by the North London club, and they likely wouldn’t even need to bring in a replacement.
