2027: Enugu ADC slams INEC, clarifies position on governorship, House of Assembly candidates

African Democratic Congress, ADC, Enugu State chapter, has declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, lacks the power to stop its candidates from participating in the 2027 general elections.

ADC said this on Friday in a statement made available to DAILY POST where it accused the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Enugu State, Chukwuemeka Chukwu of doing everything to stop its House of Assembly candidates from participating in the election.

Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday alleged that the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, considers an election to be free and fair when the All Progressives Congress, APC, loses.

Ahmad was reacting to Obi’s statement that the people of Osun State should decide who would be their next governor on Saturday.

Adeleke to set up inquiry into Osun election killings, violence

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke says the state will set up an independent commission of inquiry after Saturday’s governorship election to investigate reported cases of extrajudicial killings and other violence linked to the election.

Adeleke made this known while speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Friday.

Osun Election: 1.9m PVCs collected, 432, 843 unclaimed – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state.
