In the video, Maryam was reportedly seen distributing cash to people at the programme.

In her reaction, Yesufu compared the cash being received by supporters with money spent on school fees, rent and hospital bills.

She wrote: “You see this money the people there are receiving?

“They value it more than the hundreds of thousands you use to pay their children’s school fees, pay their rents and hospital bills.

“Do you know that you are the ones subsidizing governance for APC to do this freely without the people going after them?”

He described the election as a test of President Bola Tinubu’s ‘all is fair in politics’ comment, stressing that the world would be watching.

During a meeting with the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu declared that all is fair in politics, saying, “Those who would take it from me will try. They will try. All is fair in politics, and there is equal opportunity.”

Akande said, “Osun Decides is the first test of all is fair in politics with EFCC’s moves, viral threats and blood on the streets, Saturday’s poll will signal what 2027 election would look like.

“Osun gubernatorial election is the last off-cycle before the 2027 general polls in Nigeria, even more importantly, it’s the first election to be conducted after the President told us that all is fair in politics. That statement is now hanging over Osun like a cloud, so we must ask, which of these is fair?

“The killings and violence in the run up to the voting is it fair? The EFCC’s attempt to freeze Osun State government’s account close to the poll, an action that the President hurriedly reverse in a statement, is it fair?

“That is why everyone is watching, the opposition, civil society organizations, international community, and I’m sure that the President himself is keeping an eye on what is happening.”

The former lawmaker who stated this while speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Friday, said money, bread, rice and other items offered to voters might influence some people temporarily.

According to him, acceptance of such materials does not necessarily mean that recipients will vote for the candidates or parties that provided them.

“Osun people are intellectually sophisticated, politically conscious and highly educated. Voters are increasingly concerned about issues that would affect their future,” the APC chieftain said.

He said the electorate desire a government that can provide quality healthcare and education at all levels, as well as good road networks and employment opportunities.

Oyintiloye also listed economic empowerment and inclusive governance among the issues he said voters would consider when deciding which candidate to support.

“These are issues that directly affect their future, and I believe they will weigh them carefully when making their choices at the polls,” he said.

The APC chieftain said voters could accept money, rice, bread or other materials offered during election campaigns while still exercising their constitutional right to choose their preferred candidates.

He said the ballot remained personal, stressing that voters could make their final decisions based on their conscience and assessment of the candidates contesting the election.

“For me, the competence, credibility, capacity and track record of a candidate will matter far more than temporary inducements,” he said.

Oyintiloye urged voters to look beyond immediate material benefits and support candidates they considered capable of providing sustainable and meaningful dividends of democracy.

He maintained that although money and other material inducements might form part of the political activities surrounding elections, they would not, on their own, determine who emerges victorious in Saturday’s Osun governorship election.
