In the video, the agents were seen insisting that the ballot papers be counted before voting could begin, with one of them questioning the number presented at the polling location.

“If you count it again, am sure it won’t be up to 100, and they claimed they brought 594 for us and now is not up to 594,” one of the agents said.

An INEC official at the location reportedly explained that the discrepancy was a mistake made during the counting.

The agents, however, demanded that the ballot papers be counted again, insisting that voting will not commence if the number did not tally with the 594 they were expecting.

“Count again and if it doesn’t complete, we won’t vote,” the agents reportedly said.

In Ward 2, Units 3 and 5,Olorunda local government area, voters turned out enmasse as voting started at few minutes to 9am due to late arrival of INEC ad-hoc staff.

It was also observed that police personnel at the polling units were not armed and conducted themselves accordingly.

In Ward 5, Unit 14, Olorunda local government area, voters complained of an alleged BVAS glitch which was later clarified.

The presiding officers explained that the issue was that if fingers print and picture.

He explained that any of the criteria could be used for accreditation during the voting.

At Ward 5, Unit 7, Olorunda local government, DAILY POST observed that the aged and People With Disabilities, PWDs, were given preference as voting commenced.

There was also reported case of BVAS machine glitch in Ward 1 Unit 10 Boripe L.G at 8:40am.

The Osun INEC Public Relations Officer, Musa Olurode, clarifying the usage of BVAS, disclosed that the criteria for accreditation is either through finger prints or pictures.

He added that if one fails to register, the other is still acceptable.

He is seeking re-election under the platform of Accord Party after he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, through which he won the governorship seat in 2022.

Two out of the 15 candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and Simon Adewale of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, had earlier announced their withdrawal.

The governor, an uncle to afrobeats superstar, Davido, is up against the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the People Redemption Party, PRP, among others.
