Nottingham Forest May Have Already Won the Transfer Window Amid Fresh Update

Published

on

Nottingham Forest may have already secured their biggest bit of business this summer, if recent reports are to be believed.

It was a mixed season for Forest last term, which saw the Reds narrowly avoid relegation from the Premier League while reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League.

The East Midlands outfit sacked two managers in Nuno Espirito Santo and Sean Dyche over the course of the campaign, with their top-flight status in serious jeopardy. Eventually, the appointment of former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira in February proved to be inspired as Forest lost just one of their final ten Premier League matches, which included statement victories away at Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Sunderland, and survived relegation by five points.

Having seen his club finish seventh in the season prior, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis will be hoping that the next campaign brings similar success, meaning that there will have to be significant investment at the City Ground this summer. However, potentially the Reds’ best bit of business this window won’t be a signing or sale.

Forest expected to keep hold of Morgan Gibbs-White

According to the Daily Mail, Forest are expected to keep hold of star player Morgan Gibbs-White for another season following the Englishman’s outstanding campaign.

The 26-year-old scored an impressive 15 goals in the Premier League last term, alongside three in the Europa League, and has been subject to interest from an array of clubs over the past 12 months.

Tottenham came extremely close to securing the attacking midfielder’s services last summer before Gibbs-White opted to sign a new five-year contract at the City Ground. The report claims that Spurs, as well as Chelsea, Aston Villa and Manchester United, remain admirers of the Englishman, but they all currently have players in his favoured position.

Significant boost ahead of busy summer

Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira looks on

Despite not making Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup, Gibbs-White remains one of the most prolific playmakers in the Premier League, meaning that if Forest were able to keep hold of their star player this summer, it would prove to be a significant boost.

Not only is that because of what the attacking midfielder can offer, but also because it appears unlikely that the Reds will be able to keep hold of all of their star players, most notably Elliot Anderson.

The midfielder, who did make the England squad, has already been subject to a bid from Manchester City and is expected to depart the City Ground this summer.

Forest, though, will only sell for an enormous fee and it is extremely likely that any deal done would see Anderson leave for over £100million, which would provide Pereira with an impressive kitty to reinvest into the squad.

That isn’t expected to be the only business at the City Ground this summer, but being able to keep hold of Gibbs-White this summer will be arguably better than a statement signing.

Lewis Hamilton Seriously Slammed For ‘Hypocritical’ Billionaire Comments

Lewis Hamilton has come under fire after comments he made about “the disparity between the wealthy and the poor” resurfaced over the same weekend that his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, was in attendance to watch him race for the first time.

Hamilton picked up his third podium of the season this past weekend around the streets of Monaco and seems to really be building some momentum in the famous Ferrari seat. However, comments made regarding wealthy billionaires resurfaced from a podcast appearance three-and-a-half years ago, and it’s seen him receive plenty of stick for his remarks.

What Did Lewis Hamilton Say About Billionaires

Lewis Hamilton Speaking

On Jay Shetty’s podcast, Hamilton said: “One of the things that I struggle with every day is that there is such a disparity between the wealthy and the poor.

“When you drive around LA, there’s still so many people living on the streets. You shouldn’t be able to have billions. I think there should be a limit to how much you can have because there’s enough to go around for everyone.”

These comments emerged over the Monaco Grand Prix race weekend, as his girlfriend Kim Kardashian is worth an estimated $1.9 billion, having built a career in TV and clothing industries, among other pursuits.

A lot of the attention from this weekend was focused on Hamilton’s partner, who was attending a race for the first time since the relationship became public knowledge. Following the end of the race, and a brilliant performance from the Brit, he was seen embracing Kardashian in celebration of a great finish.

It wasn’t all good for Ferrari, however, as his teammate, and Monaco local Charles Leclerc crashed out after seemingly being thwarted by some damaged track, causing him to collide with the barriers and retire from his home race.

The influencer’s behaviour hasn’t gone down well…

The total net worth of the couple is believed to be around £1.83 billion, and this combined wealth has caused some fans to be critical of the comments previously made by the seven-time world champion.

One wrote: “Both the amount of hypocrisy here and the lack of pushback is really something to behold.”

Another user commented: “Umm… a bit rich coming from Hamilton. What’s the net worth of your girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, again?”

The pair have been friends for over a decade, and at the beginning of this year they were seen together at a New Year’s party. They went public with their relationship at the Super Bowl in February, and it has been all up from there for the couple!

Next up for Hamilton is the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, where he will be hoping his stellar form for Ferrari can continue on from Monaco.

Liverpool Want Goncalo Inacio Deal

Published

Liverpool are set to enter the market in need of fresh options, with Caught Offside reporting that centre-back will be a priority position for the club this summer.

It comes as the Reds are looking to rebuild the defensive ranks, after the exits of Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate were confirmed at the end of their current contracts.

While the left-back role looks relatively secure, with Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas featuring there, the centre-back options are looking slightly more thin.

Konate’s exit means Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, who are both into the final year of their deals, are the only experienced options available for Liverpool.

That is then backed up by the arrival of youngster Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes this summer, and the return of Giovanni Leoni from a serious knee injury.

With that in mind, it appears as though other options could be on the cards at Liverpool to help bolster the position for the short-term and the long-term.

Liverpool Shortlist Goncalo Inacio

While Liverpool look into the market for possible options to bolster the backline, the report from Caught Offside claims that Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio is among those on the club’s shortlist.

It’s claimed that the Reds want someone who is comfortable progressing the ball from the back, while the fact he is left-footed would help complement the ability of Van Dijk on the right.

Inacio is a six-foot-one-inch-tall centre-back who, at just 24 years old, already has plenty of experience under his belt after working his way through the Sporting CP ranks.

The defender has played over 250 games for the Portuguese side, while he has also become a regular for the Portugal national team in recent years.

It’s claimed that Inacio has a £52 million release clause, which could make him an affordable option for Liverpool, while his profile has been described as “rare” in recent times.

It’s no surprise that Premier League rivals have also taken notice, as Manchester United and Chelsea have previously been linked, but the Reds could have an edge.

The fact they need a replacement for Konate opens up that door, while their rivals could be focusing on other areas within their squads this summer.

Inacio isn’t the only centre-back on Liverpool’s radar, however.

Other Liverpool Centre-Back Targets

Andoni Iraola applauds Bournemouth supporters

While Inacio has been shortlisted as a centre-back target for Liverpool this summer, he isn’t the only star defender that the club are looking at.

The report claims that Napoli defender Sam Beukema is an option as part of a wider shortlist, having been linked with a move under previous manager Arne Slot.

There are also previous links to youngster Luka Vuskovic, who could leave Tottenham this summer, as well as Nottingham Forest defender Murillo.

It’s unclear whether any of those options will be intensified over the coming weeks, and none may be as easy as triggering the release clause for Inacio.

However, Liverpool are looking to future-proof their backline, and the links with players are unlikely to end any time soon.

Man Utd Eyeing Shock Deal for Marc Cucurella, He Wants Move

Manchester United’s search for a new left-back continues, as Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims a fresh name is on the club’s radar this summer.

The left-back position has been one that the Red Devils have struggled to find a long-term option for, with Luke Shaw‘s fitness issues not helped by the lack of a successor who can take the role as their own.

While Shaw was able to put previous injury concerns behind him last season, the return to Champions League football for next season will only increase his workload, and the risk of injury as a result.

Combine that with Tyrell Malacia’s exit and Partick Dorgu’s switch to left-wing, and Man United have a potential problem at left-back for the coming campaign.

Lewis Hall has been linked as a potential transfer target, while Alejandro Balde is another on the shortlist, but there appears to be a different Premier League star on the radar.

Man United Want Marc Cucurella

Chelsea's Marc Cucurella leaves the pitch after he is sent off

According to the report from Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea star Marc Cucurella has emerged as an option for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

It’s claimed that the Spanish international has informed the Blues of his desire to leave, as the club faces a few potential high-profile exits to fund moves elsewhere in the market.

Chelsea paid £63 million to land Cucurella from Brighton back in 2022, where he has progressed to become a key player for the West London outfit.

However, the report claims that an offer in the range of €40-50 million (£34.5-£43.2 million) would be enough to facilitate an exit in the coming weeks.

While Michael Carrick and Man United are labelled as interested parties, they aren’t the only team in the mix to try and land the 27-year-old this summer.

Barcelona have been outlined as a priority for Cucurella, who previously came through the club’s youth ranks before moving on, while Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester City have also been monitoring a move.

It means United may have to do some convincing to bring the Spanish left-back to the club over their potential rivals in the market this summer.

Cucurella Deal Makes Sense

Marc Cucurella

If Man United do make a concrete offer to sign Cucurella, it’s a deal that makes sense on several different levels.

The first element is Premier League experience. It’s a tactic the Red Devils deployed well last year, bringing in the stars who have proven they are quality and bring a basic floor to the team by improving the quality, with Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha doing just that.

Cucurella has 150 Premier League games to his name so far, and while his time at Chelsea in the beginning was tough, his season at Brighton followed by the campaigns after at Stamford Bridge has shown he is a quality operator.

There is a determined defending quality that the left-back brings with him, locking down flanks, before offering a bit of an attacking outlet in the final third.

It’s no surprise that Enzo Maresca called him “phenomenal” during his time at the club, with performances that stood out.

In Cucurella, Man United would have a quality, proven star entering his peak years, something that may get the team slightly closer to lifting trophies again.
