ADC releases video showing Nafiu Bala at David Mark’s unveiling as national chairman
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has released footage from a July 2025 event at Abuja’s Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, showing Nafiu Bala attending the unveiling of David Mark as the party’s interim national chairman.
The video showed INEC representatives were present at the event, and Bala was seen seated near key figures, including Senator Ishaku Abbo.
Nafiu Bala is laying claims to the party’s leadership.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that an alleged resignation letter purportedly written by Bala recently surfaced online.
In the letter dated May 18, 2025, Bala said he has resigned from his position as Deputy National Chairman (North-East) effective May 26, 2025, stating that the decision was intended to allow for “a smooth and effective coalition and restructuring” within the party.
The footage also shared by ADC Vanguard, was captioned: “ADC releases video where Nafiu Bala was sighted at David Mark leadership unveiling after he tendered his resignation. The @inecnigeria representatives were also present at the event.”
The footage has sparked reactions on social media, especially as INEC recently delisted both Mark and Rauf Aregbesola to enforce a court order restoring the pre-July 2025 leadership status quo.
On X, @JADEWORLD wrote, “@inecnigeria With this evidence, it is clear you are no longer a non-partisan body. It is absolutely embarrassing that INEC has been reduced to APC’s agent of confusion and destruction.”
@slkie wrote, “All they had to do was take this to the court where Nafiu lodged his suit… but no… Twitter threads upandan.”

INEC clears four political parties for Ondo South Senatorial bye-election
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed that only four political parties, comprising the All Progressives Congress, APC, Allied Peoples’ Movement, APM, Action Peoples Party, APP and Boot Party, will participate in the bye-election in Ondo South Senatorial District, which takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The Commission also revealed that a total of 673,446 registered voters are expected to participate in the by-election across the 1,354 Polling Units and 66 Registration Areas (Wards) in the district.
This disclosure was contained in the keynote address delivered by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ondo State, Dr Mutiu Agboke, at the stakeholders’ meeting on the conduct of the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election held on Tuesday in Okitipupa.
Agboke said the bye-election became necessary following the appointment of former Ondo South Senator, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations by President Bola Tinubu.
According to him, “the Senate formally declared the seat vacant on April 28, 2026, during plenary and directed INEC to conduct a bye-election in line with constitutional provisions governing legislative vacancies.
“To this end and in compliance with its constitutional mandate under Section 76 of the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission has swiftly moved to fill this legislative vacuum. Hence, the Commission has fixed Saturday, 20th June, 2026 the date for the Ondo South Senatorial District Bye-Election.”
The REC noted that the election would be conducted alongside other bye-elections in Enugu, Nasarawa, Rivers and Kano States, as well as the Ekiti State governorship election.
Providing details of voter distribution, Agboke said, “Odigbo Local Government Area has the highest number of registered voters with 154,382, followed by Ilaje with 147,209, while Ese-Odo has 84,888 voters.”
He added that a total of 5,416 poll officials would be deployed for the exercise and stated that only voters who registered before the commencement of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise and possess valid Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, would be eligible to vote, stressing that the existing voter register would be used for the election.
“The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, will be deployed for voter accreditation at all polling units, ensuring the integrity of the accreditation process,” Agboke said.
The REC disclosed that 1,359 BVAS machines had been received, tested and certified for deployment, while an additional 264 backup devices had been set aside to address possible technical challenges on election day.
He added that sensitive materials were already being stored in INEC’s secure vault in Akure.
On security arrangements, Agboke said INEC had activated the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security and was working closely with security agencies to ensure a peaceful process.
“We shall not allow Ondo South to be a theatre of violence and impunity,” he stated.
He identified the participating political parties and candidates as APC’s Prof. Dayo Faduyilemi, APM’s Adeolu Akinwumi, APP’s Adesanya Olaoluwa and Boot Party’s Nejo Funso Clement.
Agboke added that campaigns would run from June 10 to June 18 in accordance with the Electoral Act 2026 and urged parties, supporters and stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the election.

Lagos 2027: Agege APC leaders petition Tinubu over alleged alteration of primary result
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State have petitioned President Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, members of the National Working Committee, NWC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, alleging that the outcome of the party’s primary election for Agege Constituency I was altered after the exercise.
The petition, dated June 1, 2026, was jointly signed by the APC chairman and secretary in Agege LGA, alongside executives from the five wards that make up the constituency.
The party leaders claimed that Mr Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi emerged victorious in the primary election conducted on May 20, 2026, but was subsequently denied recognition as the party’s candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat.
According to the petitioners, Egunjobi secured 9,132 votes out of the 10,126 ballots cast across the constituency’s five wards. They stated that Mr Tunde Shola Oladipo polled 560 votes, while Mr Micheal Abiola Oluwagbenga received 434 votes.
The group maintained that Egunjobi was duly screened and cleared to participate in the exercise and was officially declared the winner by the designated returning officer, Kayode Kassim Eleshin, at the conclusion of the primary.
They further noted that the election was observed by APC officials, representatives of INEC, security agencies, journalists, and other stakeholders, describing the process as peaceful, transparent, and credible.
The petitioners, however, expressed concern over the publication of Micheal Abiola Oluwagbenga as the APC candidate for Agege Constituency I in a newspaper report published on May 25, 2026.
According to them, the published result contradicted the outcome announced at the end of the primary election and failed to reflect the decision of party members who participated in the exercise.
The party leaders urged the APC national leadership to review all records relating to the primary election and uphold the result declared by the returning officer.
“We respectfully urge the National Working Committee and all relevant organs and committees of our great party to uphold the authentic result as declared by the Returning Officer and formally recognise Egunjobi Ganiyu Kola as the duly elected APC candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly, Agege Constituency I,” the petition read.
They added that they were prepared to present documentary evidence, video recordings from all five wards, as well as reports from election observers and security agencies, to substantiate their claims.
The petitioners also appealed to President Tinubu and the APC leadership to intervene in the matter and ensure that the mandate freely given by party members in the constituency is respected and protected.
