Manchester United Reopen Talks to Sign Brighton Midfielder Carlos Baleba
Manchester United are looking to sign a third midfielder in the transfer window after securing the signatures of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea.
The Red Devils have been active in the market so far, securing the two aforementioned midfielders and goalkeeper Karl Darlow after he left Leeds United.
Further reinforcements are expected from the Red Devils, including in the middle of the park, as they look to build a deeper squad after qualifying for Europe.
Not only will United want to add more bodies into their squad, but they’ll also want to add more quality due to playing in the Champions League.
A third midfielder appears to be one of their priorities in the remaining weeks of the summer window.
Manchester United reopen midfielder talks
According to a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United have reopened talks to sign Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils were pushing to secure his signature last summer but failed to get a deal over the line due to Brighton’s significant valuation.
The report claims that Roma star Manu Kone is also a target, but United only appear to be in the market for one additional midfielder.
It remains to be seen who is the number one priority for the Manchester club, but all that is clear is that adding a third midfielder is on the agenda.
United could move on to strengthening other positions too, but it’s a midfielder who appears to be top of the list.

Terms already agreed for Baleba
Personal terms have already been previously agreed for Baleba to make the move to Old Trafford, so it should be a relatively easy deal for them to get over the line if they can finalise a fee with Brighton.
Baleba, who has been described as ‘world-class’, knows what United are willing to pay him and has accepted, meaning not much should have changed heading into this summer.
The Brighton midfielder did struggle at times last season, so it will be interesting to see whether their asking price has decreased heading into this summer.
United are in the market for a third midfielder option, and Baleba is one that they know could be fairly attainable due to his interest last summer.

Liverpool Defender Amara Nallo Set to Join HJK Helsinki on Loan
One Liverpool defender is heading through the exit door in the summer transfer window, with The Athletic’s James Pearce providing an update.
Liverpool have been primarily focusing on bringing in new additions since the market opened, but they’ll also be looking to offload some of their stars.
With the Merseyside club looking to develop some of their young talent, we could also see some of them head out on loan during the summer transfer window.
As new signings arrive, spaces in the Andoni Iraola squad get fewer, meaning some players inevitably have to depart.
So far, Liverpool have offloaded Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah, who have all left on free transfers this summer.
Liverpool defender to leave
According to reliable Liverpool journalist James Pearce, defender Amara Nallo is set to join Finnish club HJK Helsinki on loan until the end of the season.
The report claims that Nallo was left out of Liverpool’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States as he was in the process of finalising a loan move.
Liverpool believe that allowing him to play regular senior football will be beneficial to his development after a difficult start to life at the club.
At 19 years old, playing regularly is crucial for the young defender in order to reach the heights expected of him.

Nallo endured nightmare Liverpool start
Nallo’s start to life at senior level for Liverpool couldn’t have gone much worse.
Four minutes after coming on in his debut in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven, the young defender was sent off.
Nallo was then given an opportunity in the Carabao Cup, but it was a similar story against Crystal Palace.
Nallo was also sent off in that game nine months later and has been with the under-21s since.
It’s now an opportunity for the 19-year-old to reset and gain regular first-team football, hopefully putting his difficult time behind him.

Tottenham Youngster Ashley Phillips in £12m Middlesbrough Transfer Talks
Another Tottenham youngster is progressing towards leaving the club on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.
Spurs have already lost a number of young talents in the summer, with the North London club looking to raise some funds through some of their starlets.
Luka Vuskovic made a big-money move to fellow Premier League side Brighton, while Alfie Devine has also joined Preston following his loan spell.
More recently, striker Will Lankshear made the move to Middlesbrough on a permanent deal. It looks as though another Spurs man could be heading through the exit door.
Some youngsters will be given an opportunity to impress Roberto De Zerbi during pre-season, but there’s every chance Tottenham continue to cash in.
Tottenham star progressing in exit talks
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough are progressing in talks to sign another Tottenham player in the summer transfer window.
Middlesbrough already secured the signature of Lankshear, but they are now pushing for a permanent move to sign defender Ashley Phillips.
It’s claimed that a permanent deal could cost in the region of £12 million, although the two clubs have discussed a potential loan deal for the defender.
It remains to be seen whether the deal will eventually end up as a permanent or a loan, but either way it looks like Phillips could be heading to the Championship this summer.

Phillips not named in Tottenham squad
Interestingly, Phillips hasn’t been named in Tottenham’s pre-season squad that is heading to New Zealand and Australia in the coming days.
De Zerbi named a squad of 35 players, so if there was any chance of Phillips remaining with the club, he would likely have been heading to Australia and New Zealand.
A departure from Spurs on a permanent move feels like the right decision for Phillips.
The young defender has had multiple loans in the lower leagues now, and he’s going to struggle to play at Tottenham after they signed both Marcos Senesi and Jan-Paul van Hecke in the summer window.

Liverpool Eyeing Monaco Winger Akliouche Amid Summer Transfer Window
Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche in the summer transfer window, and The Athletic’s James Pearce has provided an update on the situation.
The Merseyside club are in the market for a new winger in the summer as they look to find a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who left following the end of his contract at Anfield.
Victor Munoz has arrived through the door as a signing to improve their forward options, but Liverpool remain in the market for reinforcements in the final third.
It was a disappointing 25/26 season for the Reds, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them enjoy a busy final few weeks of the summer transfer window.
James Pearce: Akliouche to Liverpool update
Speaking on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast, The Athletic reporter Pearce has shared what he’s hearing on Liverpool’s potential move to sign Akliouche in the summer transfer window.
The reliable journalist has confirmed that he has been told that there had been an approach from Liverpool earlier on in the window, and he’s one of the targets being assessed by the club.
“They’ve certainly had some discussions about it. I was told yesterday that there had been an approach earlier on in the window for the Monaco right-winger, and he is just one of a number of targets being kind of assessed at the minute before they decide exactly what they’re going to do. So he would certainly be a cheaper alternative to Bradley Barcola if you couldn’t get the PSG man. I think you’d be looking at €50-60m for Akliouche. So yeah, he’s certainly one that I say is a possibility, rather than a kind of definite they’ll be making a move for him.”
Akliouche certainly feels like a more attainable target than Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
The Monaco star should be a cheaper alternative, while PSG don’t appear to be willing to allow Barcola to leave at the moment.

Barcola is a target for Liverpool
Pearce has also recently confirmed that PSG’s Barcola is a player of interest to Liverpool in the summer window.
The journalist confirms that he is someone who features very, very highly on Liverpool’s targets, and if they are able to do a deal, they will.
“He’s certainly one who features very, very highly in their list of targets. I think if they were able to do that deal, they would do. There are a lot of moving parts, not least that are PSG definitely going to sanction his exit, and if so, at what price?”
It certainly feels like Barcola would be the priority target for the Merseyside club, but someone like Akliouche could be the cheaper option.
