In tragic news, former Juventus and Arsenal goalkeeper Alex Manninger has passed at just 48 years old. According to reports, he was killed in a car accident.
The Austrian shot-stopper was born in Salzburg in June 1977 and joined Arsenal in the late 1990s. He would make 63 starts during his five years in north London, winning the Premier League and the FA Cup in 1998.
He would later join Juventus and lift the 2011/12 Serie A title in Italy before retiring in 2017 after a short spell at Liverpool.
Danny Dyer hasn’t minced his words when discussing Thomas Tuchel’s decision to leave his son-in-law Jarrod Bowen out of his 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.
The English actor is a well-known West Ham United fan, and was left gutted when the Hammers suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2025-26 season. His misery was further compounded by Bowen’s omission from the Three Lions’ squad.
The West Ham forward married Dyer’s eldest daughter in 2025, while the couple also share two children together. He’s been the main man at the east London club since he joined in 2020. It’s been a tough couple of weeks, and now his father-in-law has lifted the lid on Bowen’s emotions.
Danny Dyer Slams ‘Ridiculous’ England Decision
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show before taking part in Soccer Aid last weekend, Dyer left nothing to the imagination when expressing his anger at Tuchel leaving Bowen out.
“It’s a double-whammy for him, he had a terrible weekend. It’s awful, he didn’t get called, which is a JOKE, by the way,” the 48-year-old said.
He even went on to call his omission ‘ridiculous’, adding: “I might be slightly biased. We were half booking flights. That’s how confident we were and then it turns out he got the call. It’s a tough weekend for the kid but he’s got a big heart and he should be on that plane. I think it’s ridiculous.”
Dyer doesn’t hold much hope in his country at the upcoming tournament in the States, Canada and Mexico. “Without Jarrod, they’re going to be pony. I don’t think we’ll beat Croatia in the first game,” he claimed.

It’s clear he isn’t the biggest Tuchel fan, either, as he pointed out that the best teams the German has faced to date have got the better of England: “Anyone decent we’ve played, we lost. We lost to Senegal and Japan. As soon as we’ve had a test, he’s failed.”
Rather brutally, Dyer made a point of naming Arsenal’s Noni Madueke as the player that should’ve been left at home so that Bowen could claim a place on the plane. He told Rooney and his co-hosts:
“I hope I’m wrong, but Jarrod should be on that plane… over Madueke.”
How Jarrod Bowen Feels About Leaving West Ham
Bowen is now being linked with a move away from West Ham, with many wondering how Dyer would feel about him exiting the club. The Football Factory actor did reveal just how hard the relegation has been on Bowen, saying: “He’s devastated about it. I can’t tell you how much he takes it to heart.”
Dani Dyer has revealed her thoughts on a vulgar West Ham United fan chant that references her and partner Jarrod Bowen.
While he’s previously named the only two clubs he’d ‘suffer’ seeing the 29-year-old join, Dyer has claimed to have no knowledge of any potential move. Confirming that Bowen would like to stay put in the capital, he continued: “He wants to stay because he loves the club. I’ve got no answers about that at all.
Tottenham have been handed a potential transfer boost in the summer window, as The Athletic reports that one target is likely to leave his club in the coming weeks.
It comes as Spurs are already hard at work to rebuild the squad, in the hopes of returning to the top of the Premier League table after consecutive 17th-placed finishes.
There has been a bid rejected for Jan Paul van Hecke, as the Brighton centre-back has emerged as another possible defensive reinforcement in the window.
Beyond that, the forward ranks are also under scrutiny, with a possible ramping up of interest in those positions to come.
The West Ham winger has impressed since making the step up from the Championship with Leeds to the Premier League, becoming a key player for the Hammers, particularly in the latter half of last season.
It wasn’t enough to keep the side up, however, which means the club are looking to raise funds in the transfer market with the sale of some key players.
The report from The Athletic states that while West Ham are desperate to keep the likes of Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen, Summerville is a player who is expected to leave.
That opens up the possibility of Tottenham being able to finally seal a deal for the 24-year-old winger, handing Roberto De Zerbi a clear boost in the forward line.
There is competition for the Dutch international’s signature, however, as Premier League rivals Aston Villa have been noted as a team who are monitoring his situation.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs will push ahead with a deal or not, given the club’s recent priority in pushing for defensive signings, but attention could shift to the forward ranks soon.

Summerville Could Improve Tottenham
If Summerville did join Tottenham, then they could be boosted by bringing in a direct attacking threat, who still has plenty of potential to grow even further.
The 24-year-old could be the player to finally seal the left-wing role, which has been passed around several names in recent years, with seven goals and five assists to his name over the past season.
His improved form has seen the star called up for the Netherlands squad at the World Cup, with his debut made for the senior side in midweek’s friendly clash with Algeria.
“Overall, Summerville proved he can be dangerous with his speed and dribbling and can also hold the ball well on the inside as an extra midfielder,” a report from Dutch outlet NOS said about his display.
He would be the second addition from Anfield after Andy Robertson
That would certainly add something to the Tottenham squad, but there would still need to be a rebalancing of the attacking options available.
Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, and Richarlison can all play on the left wing, which is a lot of competition for not many matches across a full season.
While injury will impact the former of the trio, there may be questions over the future of the other two and whether there needs to be some exits in the forward line before new stars can come in.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly told the club that Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes is his ‘dream’ midfield signing this summer.
Tottenham and Newcastle both endured disappointing Premier League seasons, finishing 17th and 12th in the table respectively despite both teams competing in the Champions League.
Neither Spurs nor the Magpies have any European football next term, and they will surely be looking at Manchester United’s recent third-place finish with no European distractions as the benchmark for the 2026-27 campaign.
What is clear in Tottenham’s case are that changes are needed to the squad, not only for the reason they have finished 17th in successive Premier League seasons, but also that they need a team that is tailored to De Zerbi’s tactical needs.
Spurs have quite a few options in central midfield as things stand, with the Italian boss preferring the experience of Conor Gallagher, Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha in the closing weeks of the campaign as they battled for top flight survival.
De Zerbi appears to be looking for upgrades in the position though to take the club back up the Premier League table, with Guimaraes catching his eye.
De Zerbi Identifies Bruno Guimaraes as ‘Dream’ Target
According to a reliable Tottenham account on X, via Sports View, De Zerbi is said to have put forward the name of Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes to club chiefs ahead of the summer window opening on June 15.
The Italian manager is said to view the Brazil international as a ‘dream’ target for Spurs, although it will be ‘tough’ to prise him away from St James’ Park.
It has been widely reported that Newcastle need to recoup money this summer for PSR reasons, although Anthony Gordon has already left for Barcelona in a big-money switch.
Sandro Tonali, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento have also been heavily linked with exits, but speculation around Guimaraes has been quiet so far.
There is no doubt that signing the 28-year-old would be a huge statement of intent, given he is Newcastle captain and has been described as ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’ by Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli.

Joao Palhinha Giving Priority to Tottenham
De Zerbi made it clear in the final weeks of the season that he wants to sign Bayern Munich loanee Joao Palhinha on a permanent basis this summer.
There have been mixed reports on Palhinha’s stance on signing for Spurs on a full-time basis however, with reports in his homeland suggesting that Tottenham have pulled out of a deal as he wanted to join Sporting Lisbon instead of remaining in London.
However, in recent days, Fabrizio Romano has reported that the 30-year-old is giving priority to remaining at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, given his strong relationship with De Zerbi.
Should Spurs fail to reach a deal with Bayern Munich, Romano says that Sporting are ready to act and bring the Portugal international back to Lisbon.
As well as his defensive midfield duties, Palhinha popped up with two crucial goals in the north London outfit’s battle against relegation, scoring in wins against Wolves and Everton.
